Americana: The Old School Bell

Laughter peals of joy

balls bouncing on the playground

the bell rings feet running

time to come in

looking out the window

dreams of

what tomorrow will bring?

child wonders

hoping for  lifetime of new things

echos

of a world gone by

children’s children

listen to the school bell ring

Calling children today

sounding

same tone for tomorrow

take your place

amoung the ranks of students

who answered the call of the bell

Thank you for visiting Moondustwriter. One of the many exciting things I've had the honor of doing is writing and publishing in multiple genres (including education) in E. African for E. Africa. As a writer, it is a thrill to write for children (on all continents) who want to learn. I've been part of the blogging community for more than 13 years. Some old timers may remember the award winning (2011 Twitter Shorty ) blog community - One Stop Poetry. I was the co-producer of that fast growing blog community. I am a published writer, poet, artist and photographer. I have written, as well as edited, for periodicals, radio, blogs and fellow writers. There are many facets to this moon - my joy is in meeting you!

  1. i came after the bells were gone…at least they were electric by the time i got there, but we still put up the flag each morning and it was an honor to be chosen to do so..

  2. Have my eyes failed me…there were not broken hearts, no signs of death hanging outside the door…just the fond memories of youth…at last your promise has been kept…and such a wonderful and warm poem….just loved it! Okay, so let’s get back to broken hearts and the rest of the heavy poetry stuff. 😉 Just love what you write!!!!!!!!!!
