She said a word

in the cool of the night

he heard it wrong

now there’s heat and there’s spite

now a word can be handled

with love and with care

but another can be

flung like a dagger in the air

but the word wedges deeper

than the dagger ever will

it will cut and will carve

to see  more than blood spill

oh to be misunderstood

in the heat of the night

no more love understanding

they were ready for a fight

Thank you for visiting Moondustwriter. One of the many exciting things I've had the honor of doing is writing and publishing in multiple genres (including education) in E. African for E. Africa. As a writer, it is a thrill to write for children (on all continents) who want to learn. I've been part of the blogging community for more than 13 years. Some old timers may remember the award winning (2011 Twitter Shorty ) blog community - One Stop Poetry. I was the co-producer of that fast growing blog community. I am a published writer, poet, artist and photographer. I have written, as well as edited, for periodicals, radio, blogs and fellow writers. There are many facets to this moon - my joy is in meeting you!

  1. Wonderfully written. The blend of this is a good impact of the words….*sigh…sometimes the words in misunderstanding can very well “cut deep”

  2. Too bad we can live our lives like a small Hollywood sitcom…if we got the lines wrong…we’d just reshoot the shot until it turned out right….but we cannot so sometiimes as in you other poem I read tonight…we long for our youth…when things were simpler…loved both of these poems…you made me recall moments now and in my past…thanks for the array of memories.

  3. a wonderful poem, my dear, as always (:

arguments are never nice, but we work past them, don’t we?
    “no more love understanding
they were ready for a fight”

    true, oh so true…

all my love to the moon, via the stars that glitter (:

    1. I’ve been exploring for a litlte bit for any high quality articles or blog posts on this kind of space . Exploring in Yahoo I at last stumbled upon this website. Reading this info So i’m glad to convey that I have a very excellent uncanny feeling I found out exactly what I needed. I most without a doubt will make sure to do not omit this website and give it a look regularly.

  4. Nice, Leslie. Words have such power. They can cut or heal, and the effects can last a lifetime. We would be wise to be cautious how we fling them about.

  5. Sometimes our emotions get the better of us, and the building fire drives us to things we do not really want. In but an instant, words can cut us clean through. As you say:

    “but the word wedges deeper

    than the dagger ever will”

Well put, and well written. A wonderful, if saddening, poem.

  6. We can fight anger but sometimes misunderstandings just leave us hurt and bewildered…
“…to see more than blood spill…”
    beautifully written

  7. My wife and we were now satisfied Ervin manaegd in order to finish off his survey through your entire ideas he or she acquired out of the web page. It is now and then perplexing to just continually be giving regarding free techniques which others would’ve been selling. And we recognize we have the business owner to thank for that. Most associated with the explanations you created, the straightforward blog navigation, the friendships you give support to foster it’s all extraordinary, and it is actually really leading some of our son and the family reason why that subject is definitely entertaining, which is exceedingly essential. Thank an individual for all!
