If… Then… (One Shot Wednesday Poetry)

If…

I could look at the moon

in  her soft radiance

and hear her innermost thoughts

***

If…

I could stand before the sea

in  his raging energy

and feel his surging emotion

***

If…

I could embrace a new born child

in  her newness

and experience her innocent wonder

***

If…

I could ride on the winds

feel the undulation of the currents

and be suspended in time and space

***

Then…

for one fraction

of one moment

I may have a finite grasp

of what God

lives and breathes

each day

One Shot Wednesday is a time for poets to express themselves, to experience life, love, or reality through words. Please join us as we strive to inspire each other.

Thank you for visiting Moondustwriter. One of the many exciting things I've had the honor of doing is writing and publishing in multiple genres (including education) in E. African for E. Africa. As a writer, it is a thrill to write for children (on all continents) who want to learn. I've been part of the blogging community for more than 13 years. Some old timers may remember the award winning (2011 Twitter Shorty ) blog community - One Stop Poetry. I was the co-producer of that fast growing blog community. I am a published writer, poet, artist and photographer. I have written, as well as edited, for periodicals, radio, blogs and fellow writers. There are many facets to this moon - my joy is in meeting you!

  1. Moon,

I was looking for your link tonight…. I loved how in between the stanzas you make me pause even longer than i naturally would…made me really think about each question and even though I knew from the title there would be a “then” i found my anticipation building and building.

As always, your words are a joy to read

  2. This poem is numinous!

    Then…

    for one fraction

    of one moment

It’s like catching a glimpse…just a mere glimpse…behind the veil…a fraction of a moment is enough to last lifetimes.
    Thank you for this poem.

  3. This had some wonderful, spiritual undertones for me… and then the waterline slipped back for the great reveal. That’s when I realised that I hadn’t misread said undertones! Nicely done. 😀

  4. Lovely exploration of the finite and the infinite; this examines the limitations that being human imposes on the ability to see but not encompass all that it means. Excellent poem. Thank you. Gay

  5. Watch wild Diana hunt by night and we know

    She pulled her bow
    and took aim
    naked and proud
    in moon shadow
    with breasts
    beating soft
    to send
    a quiet death
    with laughter

Thanks for dropping by to read my poem. Hope your week goes well

  6. We do experience that everyday… thus moving closer and closer I suppose..

Well written, Moon… It’s all it takes to get up close and personal with God… appreciation and acknowledgement of everything around.. quite easy eh? And yet… (sigh)
