Silvery World of the Snowflake (Friday #FlashFiction)

Little One you were so free

dancing twirling in the world- esprit

others joined  as you sang your song

dancing,  humming along

People listened with sheer delight

in wonder of your silver beauty

in flight

sadly you have been displaced

in the sweater of a dancing, twirling girl

in her own silvery world on skates

This was the lighter of the two snowflake pieces I wrote this week. The other is at One Stop Poetry

G-Man is a fantastic host of Flash Fiction please join us this week for great fiction in 55 words.

Thank you for visiting Moondustwriter. One of the many exciting things I've had the honor of doing is writing and publishing in multiple genres (including education) in E. African for E. Africa. As a writer, it is a thrill to write for children (on all continents) who want to learn. I've been part of the blogging community for more than 13 years. Some old timers may remember the award winning (2011 Twitter Shorty ) blog community - One Stop Poetry. I was the co-producer of that fast growing blog community. I am a published writer, poet, artist and photographer. I have written, as well as edited, for periodicals, radio, blogs and fellow writers. There are many facets to this moon - my joy is in meeting you!

  1. A perfect metaphor for all the days and all the ways that every facet of nature is interconnected. The snowflake gets absorbed and sharp skates cut little shavings of ice loose, free to be carried up and away by the wind.

    1. Well a little of that snow made it over here to France, but no Gingerbread hosues. Last time I bought one it was in IKEA, have you one near you?Have loved discovering your blog, am already a fan of your stamps ;), and can hardly wait to see what you have in store for us in the New Year!

      1. Diana! So sorry, but I ate everything on that tree, indinclug all the cupcakes! What a beautiful mind you have. Cole with Santa!!! Priceless. Hug him extra tight tonight to slow down the growing process…although I will share a secret…even grown up boys remain Mama’s boys. Merry Christmas to you and your beautiful family. Love, Deb

    1. We in B.C. Canada had -36 last week and today it is up to +5 right now and melting!!!! I love it when it is cold eonguh to see the icey crystals on the trees at night when one is driving into my house, well or anywhere else I guess!!!! LOL My idea for your gingerbread house is get some friend that isn’t so busy to make you one!!! How’s that??? Makes perfect sense to me! LOL My daughter and her fiance were in Edmonton Alberta last weekend. I do believe it was the 1st or 2nd coldest place on earth at the time. -50. And they had to travel 8 hours to get that!!! Mind you they came from north of that so probably not much different than where they live.Just wanted to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New year! Looking very forward to see what you come up with next!Hoho hugs from Canada!!!Dorothy

  2. Hey, a fascinating ode to a snowflake, tastefully, beautifully imagined and written. And the story of this little piece of frozen sadly (or gladly?) entwined, woven, into the life of a dancing, twirling girl
    in her own silvery world…

    Truly Stewpendous!

  3. That dainty swirling, twirling, delicate dancing snowflake of poetic license is much prettier in your poem then the blizzard raging in the Northeastern states.

    1. *Tumpets *We are here to attend the ctaonroion of this years Three Wise Men.For correctly identifying the T molecule in the star . *Drumroll *We crown His Royal Highness ATM Melchior*Drumroll *And His Royal Highness Jason Caspar*Drumroll *Not forgetting His Royal Highness Lloyd Balthazar The turkey escaped, so there will be no royal feast. Instead please go to your local Burger King and partake of a juicy burger as part of the royal celebrations. (also, pay for it yourselves.) Crowns … you want to see crowns…. Well my talented little cousin our resident crown maker, has been banished into his room for beheading his sister’s doll. He is sulking under the pillow. So there will be no crowns this year. But all the same… congratulations to you THREE WISE MEN.*drumroll Trumpets*
