Stormed with a vengeance

no mercy at the gate

take all and pillage

and last… the city’s rape

***

Flames against the night

burned into the sky

nothing left of beauty

no more battle cry

***

Finality in the embers

at her broken gate

Where was hope when needed?

Destruction was their fate

The despoiiling of war. Great flow and rhyme . scheme. I thought this write Great I could smell rthe city burning!

Reminds me of Napoleons run through Eastern Europe until he got to Russia where they themselves burned every village and town to deny him supplies–or Detroit on the night before Halloween where the burning is just for fun.

Somehow what springs to mind are the string of tornadoes that have been sweeping across the country, leveling communities.
