Lonely but not alone #flashfiction

you whisper into the night

“I am lonely”

…look into the skies

behold stars twinkle

trying to warm you

a hawk crys out

it longs to be heard by you

a fountain bubbles

tries to wash over you

hands reach out

to be held by you

the corners of your mouth curl

smiling at life

Thank you for visiting Moondustwriter. One of the many exciting things I've had the honor of doing is writing with an E. African team that is developing elementary curriculum for African children. As a writer, it is a thrill to help children (on all continents) who want to learn. I've been part of the blogging community for more than 10 years. Some old timers may remember the award winning (2011 Twitter Shorty ) blog community - One Stop Poetry. I was the co-producer of that fast growing blog community. I am a published writer, poet, artist and photographer. I have written, as well as edited, for periodicals, radio, blogs and fellow writers. There are many facets to this moon - thanks for stopping by.

  1. Well-written ’55’ Leslie. Bet you didn’t know my 3-day-old post is on loneliness and aloneness.

It is a favorite topic of mine, because it ruled so much of my life, ya know?

    1. On today, there is a public heainrg in Ward 5 with PEPCO asking for a 42.1 million dollar rate increase. Their Director makes over 3 million a year and needs a raise and increased executive compensation. More residents will lose their housing due to the continued rate increases. The rate increase is also to improve reliability and pay for the smart meters being installed. Call the Office of the People’s Counsel (OPC.gov) for information(727-3071), or testify and ask for a rebate instead of a rate increase during the current recession. This affects middle income residents who cannot qualify for help through the DC energy office. Happy Thanksgiving

  2. i never believe the people who say they are “alone but not lonely” ~ i don’t think they are truly alone and your poem epitomizes that. stunning imagery! love it!
