The Chapters of Today #oneshotwednesday

We closed the chapter yesterday

you were a whisper away

smiling during the dedication

catching prism-like reflection

a loving and tearful display

***

I turned a page in my life today

a new script to unfold

catching friends bloom ~a glance

butterflies in a regal dance

many stories yet untold

***

There was a book they say

filled with colorful array

it represented forever

we embraced it together

we continue to  play

Yesterday we buried a dear friend who lost the battle with cancer, today I bury a dream called One Stop Poetry, tomorrow a new dream, a new chapter will unfold for each of us.

To each of you who has supported One Stop Poetry and a crazy dream thank you; to my team wishing you the best as you pursue new heights – all my love to each of you.

My dreams and life are changing but in an exciting way: I am moving back to San Francisco – my home where I will care for my aging mother and where I will heal from a respiratory disease that salt air “wonderfully” cures, I am returning to my studies an an artist with my mentor; my books for special needs children will  be moving forward to publication; my dream to see artists realize their dreams will continue and hopefully take wing.

Please join us for a farewell to One Stop Poetry

  1. You never know how much something means to you until it’s gone. Sometimes words simply fail.

Thanks you, Leslie. That’s all. Just thank you.

  2. This is beautiful, Leslie. And like Glynn said, thank you.

May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind always be at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
and rains fall soft upon your fields.
    And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.

  3. Leslie, sorry to read about your dear friend, and thank you for this poem, representing the change, the turning chapters of life. Having come rather late to Onestop, I would say I have really enjoyed it, and of course that is because of you! Really hope you will still be around on Twitter etc, when you move to SF, and share the fulfilment of your new dreams with us..K-a hugs xx

  5. I have to agree that this was a lovely piece Leslie. I am sad to see One Stop dissolved. You grew it into a lovely community where so many people felt free to share and grow. I wish you the best in your new endeavours along this thing called life.

    peace to you

  6. I’ll pass on all the joining in as is my way but I do wish you well on your adventures and may you find the freedom of expression and lack of walls and fences you are seeking.

    Breathe better and be well

  7. Beauty often lies within the darkest pains… struggling forth beyond barriers lying aside, raw with the best of emotions and the worst. Best of luck in your transitions and new chapters. Hope to see you around the land.

  8. I also posted a farewell piece for my last One Shot, though it’s of a more personal nature than a general goodbye. But it fit, as does yours.

  10. Leslie, I am so sorry about the loss of your friend, and you know I’m sorry about the closure of One Stop. I hope you’ll subscribe to my blog, and like my Facebook page, and just stay in touch. period. I have always loved your poetry and your vibe. I couldn’t write a final chapter (poem) for OS Wednesday – too difficult for me. But I do have a new poem up on my blog that’s actually well suited to the changes you’re going through. Be open. You have no idea what’s around the corner; though I do believe, in your case, delightful surprises await you. I’ve never been to San Fran but will let you know if I ever wander that way! xxx
