First Day of School #flash fiction

Are you sure I am ready?

Everything is here pens, notebooks, binders, art supplies. />

Are you sure everything is here? What about a sack lunch????

I don’t think I can do this!!!!

Mom I’ve been going to school for 14 years. maybe it was never putting me on a bus at 5 that has created this disfuctional behavior.

My son is leaving home in a few weeks to go University- I’ve been spoiled having him close at the local college. Thank goodness for text messages and cell phones.

It’s another great day for flash fiction at G-mans

Thank you for visiting Moondustwriter. One of the many exciting things I've had the honor of doing is writing with an E. African team that is developing elementary curriculum for African children. As a writer, it is a thrill to help children (on all continents) who want to learn. I've been part of the blogging community for more than 10 years. Some old timers may remember the award winning (2011 Twitter Shorty ) blog community - One Stop Poetry. I was the co-producer of that fast growing blog community. I am a published writer, poet, artist and photographer. I have written, as well as edited, for periodicals, radio, blogs and fellow writers. There are many facets to this moon - thanks for stopping by.

  1. It’s tough to cut those Strings MDW.
But Love from the heart never goes away.
    Your 55 was perfect.
Thanks for playing, and have a Kick Ass Week-End

  2. I think it’s hard for everyone when the children leave the nest. Don’t beat yourself up over it.

On the other hand, it is something to be proud off! He’s going to University! 🙂

  3. This was hysterical but I can so relate to it. Thankfully, two of my sons are finished with college and the third left home at 18 to go to UC Davis. He’s about to celebrate his 28th birthday, married last year but is still working on his degrees. Has paid his own way since he moved away, bless his heart! He and Laura even paid all their wedding expenses and bought a home a year before the wedding.

    My 55 is at:

Hope your weekend is filled with bliss, whatever that is for you!

  4. Oh, good luck to your son!!

My heart is with you, even tho mine is still 8 years away (or 7?) from leaving for post-secondary education.

Sweet 55. And funny. Like it’s creator!!

P.S. Kelly is about to start taking the bus for The First Time, as she will finally officially be a Public School Girl, 5th grade. She has ridden school buses to gymnastic maps outings, and such. But FIRST time on the school bus on Aug. 2nd. You KNOW I’ll be there videoing that morning! And that afternoon when she gets off.

    xoxo agin!

  5. Awww! I know just how you feel Leslie. Two of my boys (okay, they’re men, but I’ll call them my boys) are coming for a visit next week and I can’t wait to see them. Why do they have to grow so quickly?
