Dear ____
I don’t yet know your name but I know you are out there
How I will find you I do not know or care
When I find you I will Know
I’ve known since I was little there would be someone
Someone who thought I was special
A person who would wrap their arms around me at the end of the day and say
“honey you are so precious. There would be something missing without you”
You will come to all performances and clap when I sing
You will never hear the one note I missed every note perfect to you
When I fall, you will pick me up hold me close and warm
get me chicken soup and keep me from all harm
you will always know my many voices and know if somethings wrong
your eyes will gently say I’m here for you my dear I’m strong
Oh letter person it does not matter who you are
what you look like
young or old
just as long as you love me
share my burdens
and take my hand to hold
This is an imaginary letter written as a child found years later, copied and handed to several people who shared life’s burdens along the way
For some life hasn’t panned out the way they hoped. Childhood was absent of affection and promise marriage much the same but there is always one who sticks closer than a brother who will never throw away love
Today Faith Barista’s prompt: If you were to write a letter to someone you love, who would you write to — and what would you say?
I wrote many letters that sounded just like this one. Makes me smile. I’ve learned so much about the One “who sticks closer than a brother” since then. Great post!

Made me think of a song my mother would sing some times “I’m gonna sit right down and write myself a letter” (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d_hwd8iYgIU) … a sweet memory.
