We can learn so much from history and those who forged their way through it…

White wash will cover
mute it away
hide the reminder
agedness and decay
*
an old wizened face
all knowing eyes
there is life and history
no paint can disguise
**
more things than saw
behind the facade
a life, a story
so much had gone on
*
if you try to separate
life from this place
you will miss what has happened
it will be a disgrace
*
for when it was young
a beauty you’d see
a family, animals
life-giving trees
*
Now listen and learn
from vine-covered wood
a tale, antiquity
where history stoically stood

Thank you for visiting Moondustwriter. One of the many exciting things I've had the honor of doing is writing and publishing in multiple genres (including education) in E. African for E. Africa. As a writer, it is a thrill to write for children (on all continents) who want to learn.
I've been part of the blogging community for more than 13 years. Some old timers may remember the award winning (2011 Twitter Shorty ) blog community - One Stop Poetry. I was the co-producer of that fast growing blog community.
I am a published writer, poet, artist and photographer. I have written, as well as edited, for periodicals, radio, blogs and fellow writers.
There are many facets to this moon - my joy is in meeting you!

We should never throw someone away because of their age. They do have stories to tell. Something on a side point. We shouldn’t worry about aging and getting all that plastic surgery it still leaves the age old eyes. Just a twist on the painted fence. It made me think of that. Nice poem, nice reminder to value the old and their experience and wisdom gained.

Glad u saw the person in the poem. So sad that wisdom is devalued because society abhors wrinkles. What those eyes have seen is priceless

A poetic telling of the place’s history. Somehow it seems more elegant now.

You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear. She put the shell to her ear and screamed. There was a hemirt crab inside and it pinched her ear. She never wants to go back! LoL I know this is totally off topic but I had to tell someone!
