Door to Heaven by Clare
Door to Heaven by Clare

Where have I come from

where will I go

the door it has opened

to where I don’t know

*

 it crept in as light

just under a bit

then it grew bigger

my entire room was lit

*

it beckoned for me

“come this way” it said

oh what was I thinking

when I got out of bed?

*

which foot do I start with

which shoes do I wear

 a bit tentative

before me  its dare

*

I have dreamt of this day

for years in a glass

and now that it’s here

I fear what will pass

*

none for those thoughts

there’s much more to find

take one walking stick

give no thought behind

walking stick

What awaits us as we walk out the door of this life into a new reality? I believe that death is like a door that we walk through and there is a new world called heaven with plenty of green rolling hills to traverse.

“Behold, I have set before you an open door, which no one is able to shut. I know that you have but little power, and yet you have kept my word and have not denied my name”.

Revelation 3:8

Thank you for visiting Moondustwriter. One of the many exciting things I've had the honor of doing is writing and publishing in multiple genres (including education) in E. African for E. Africa. As a writer, it is a thrill to write for children (on all continents) who want to learn. I've been part of the blogging community for more than 13 years. Some old timers may remember the award winning (2011 Twitter Shorty ) blog community - One Stop Poetry. I was the co-producer of that fast growing blog community. I am a published writer, poet, artist and photographer. I have written, as well as edited, for periodicals, radio, blogs and fellow writers. There are many facets to this moon - my joy is in meeting you!

  1. Wonderful words and a great question to begin with.;)
Enjoyed the path. Everyone is curious to know what’s behind that door; the irony once there to know, we will not be here to share.

  2. To speak of walking sticks… another “bottom drawer folk art” hobby of mine.

    leave no thoughts behind
    fill the trail

Grand verse… pulling out the “thoughts.” _m

  3. This is such a visual poem, great work. It reads and sings well. I felt like I was looking through the eyes of a kid reading this 🙂 There’s always so much to discover out there behind the door, out there in the light.

  4. I don’t know what death is, nor do I even have an inkling of what I perceive will happen when I die. But I do know, I’ve made peace with it, it no longer scares me.
