7 Days of Christmas #2 #Christmas #poetry

moose skate

Monday there was much to do

coordinate Christmas gifts and more

so many families this year

line of presents out the door

a volunteer sweetly smiled

I wished her all the best

and as we rested from the day

an envelope she had left

inside the flap were crisp new bills

I couldn’t believe my eyes

and so came my first of tears

I lifted praises to the skies

Tuesday was delivery day

so much for us to do

so tired at the end of it

kids slept the whole night through

I thought I heard a knock so late

upon our darkened place

in stocking feet I shuffled there

you should have seen my gaze

our porch was filled with gifts and  such

such an amazing sight

a turkey, foods and Christmas stuff

they shimmered in the light

So thankful I was for these things

my kids would be so thrilled

I still hold closely to my heart

this Christmas miracle

***

This is part two of three posts about a Christmas miracle that happened when my children were little. My husband and I were in charge of a non-profit that provided needs to the needy in our county. We managed to live on very little but never had extra money for socks and shoes and definitely not Christmas trees, ribbon and gifts. Our own families were very poor so they could not help us. I believe the catalyst for this 7 day miracle was the prayer of a little boy wanting his sister to have Christmas and the faith to believe it could happen.

Part one here.

Thank you for visiting Moondustwriter. One of the many exciting things I've had the honor of doing is writing and publishing in multiple genres (including education) in E. African for E. Africa. As a writer, it is a thrill to write for children (on all continents) who want to learn. I've been part of the blogging community for more than 13 years. Some old timers may remember the award winning (2011 Twitter Shorty ) blog community - One Stop Poetry. I was the co-producer of that fast growing blog community. I am a published writer, poet, artist and photographer. I have written, as well as edited, for periodicals, radio, blogs and fellow writers. There are many facets to this moon - my joy is in meeting you!
