Dawn and the Sea #poetry

tidal foam

my eyes long to caress you smooth as silk

your bronze glow accentuated by dawn

my fingers can only momentary trace a message

watery “I love yous” fade away

as the sea draws lacy covers back

remnant of a long night blurrs

gold red rays warm your skin

long legged birds celebrate your awakening

I a mere voyeur watch…

the morning rises from slumber

 meeting the sea’s welcome embrace

I inhale the beauty of a new day

sandpiper dawn

This week’s prompt at Poet’s United Midweek Motif is Beauty. Where in the world do you see beauty?

  1. I want to inhale a bit – Ha. I just got back from Miami and spent some time on the beach. The water temperature was 87. Amazing. You could just walk right in. I did get bit by some rather larger fish that came through in a school. Ha. Totally freaked out the rest of those on the beach, and I did not get it as bad as this other lady that came up rather bloody. I like the intimacy you have with the morning, with the beach. I longingly look forward to returning.

  2. I really like watching the morning rise from its slumber. Those early morning rays ARE the most beautiful. And there is nothing like inhaling its beauty! Very nicely written, Leslie.
