Nature’s Rush #poem

three rivers

Buying buying buying

setting out brown mulch

stones set  forest pathway

one list lest I forget

Raking raking raking

piles of sallow leaves

spreading forth the grass seeds

the ground at last is fed

sun’s smiling smiling smiling

before days grow short and cold

have I missed my timing

leaf piles already old

Gliding, twirling, rushing

for their fallen end

copper reds and yellows

dart about my head

Nature now is racing

the winner is at hand

blue skies,  oak leaves sailing

they’re running out of time

Hold back the cold and barren

furry creature’s job not done

a few more days, be patient

squirrels chase remaining fun

rivulets now are flowing

make a warm dry bed

winter chill is creeping

lay down your sleepy head

squirrel

colorful motion

leaves race drops to the ground

no time to blink
