Cat and Mouse #poetry #deadlines

kitty

leaving me one morsel

follow affection’s trail

perfect is the trap

“sir, you are no mere cat!”

*

turn from being shunned

closer now you come

sidle Cheshire smile

“sit with me awhile”

*

again, I take the bait

no exit no escape

in your claws another mouse

 so many in this house

***

sand  another wall

this house has endless seasons

a poem on the stairs

up stairs

This  “Cat” poem (prompted by Poet’s United) was written on the stairs on a scrap of cardboard while I was sanding and prepping something else that doesn’t want to stay attached to my house.

I am nearing completion (next Wednesday my deadline) of a year-long remodel.  I look forward to writing the stories cluttering in my head.

  3. I can imagine your cat rubbing up against your leg as you sit on the stairs, scribbling on your cardboard. Oops! There goes the pencil!

  4. Cats do like to prove their worth with depositing mouse carcasses proudly for owners to marvel at. As kids we were the ones to clean up the corpses to put in the trash as mother was too squeamish about them!
