But I have a name
I had to hide it
under guilt and shame
my father first
than another
the men in the village
more than trouble
i dont have a child
but most of us do
my life starts over
it’s what i choose
skills and school
than add a trade
reset my life
This is a thoughtful poem that speaks the truth, Leslie. I like how you shone a light on women in Uganda and how challenging their lives are over there. It is unfortunate how women there are boxed into certain roles and have to hide their capabilities, and opportunities to improve on themselves are scarce. Thank you for sharing this. Hope you are doing well over there. Take care.

It seems to me my friend…that women are too often “boxed” regardless of the country.
