Broken Not Forgotten #pain #poetry #photography

I couldn’t pull away today

your pain a wound made fresh

why not tear my flesh away

heart a tear stained mess

you tore the sinews of my heart

its that way for her too

my children look with longing eyes

brown eyes are turning blue

I couldn’t pull my heart away

your pain is an old tune

he tore at your flesh today

child needs food at noon

we pull together from the shards

women torn by love again

burden of a life so hard

because we trust in man

I couldn’t pull away today

I saw the break was fresh

put my hanky on your heart

well help you in this mess

turn toward a brand new day

for children you must stand

God will take care of you

He will always hold your hand

Women and children can easily be broken by relationships.

God promises that he will never leave us and He will never forsake us.

Put you hand in His. He shoulders the burdens of the downcast

The Children of Our World #needy #forgotten

Threadbare cloth

cold winds look for smallest

children shiver

We meet so many children on the byways of the world. There is something we notice often – when we give a little encouragement, those little faces light up. They soak up any kindness.

Lately we heard from a colleague in a really hard place in the world. Mr. I (yeah he lives in one of those areas where you don’t reveal your true identity) works with the street children in his village every day. They too light up with his kindness and devour the time he spends with them.

Mr. I is having a birthday soon and wants more than any gift in the world to give these children something. Winter is coming and he reached out and said “is there any way we could give these children who have nothing a warm blanket or something to wear before winter hits?”

I dont ask for help on my blog Im a writter not a fundraiser. But my only answer for Mr. I was to send what I could which will help a few of those kids and ask if there is anyone else with $10 who could buy a blanket or shirt and pants for a child with no family, no hope.

Here’s where you could send those funds online
or a direct link is: https://secure.egsnetwork.com/donate/431B1AC964984BB

Whether you can help or not thank you for being the light to a child today.

The Needy Shall Not Always be Forgotten… Psalm9:18

The Brave Boy #fire #kindness #africa #orphan

If you could see my cracked tooth smile

would you say hello and stay awhile

I’d tell you about my life and the brook

sadly I have never ever read a book

but  I will soon one day

reach in my pocket and sail away

to a land of monsters, giants and such

dont be afraid I packed a lunch

He didn’t stop to think if he might be burnt. His schoolroom was in blazes. This little boy with a big heart and smile bravely gave his best. I pumped and pumped, the little ones carried and carried ,but the flames would not give in.

We sat and cried most of the books and desks did not survive. How do you begin again?

I later learned that this brave boy was all of three and became my youngest hero. What little child  doesn’t run and hide behind his mothers skirts? But I saw something in that soot circled smile that spoke of courage and worth.

The school was his future and like older kids he thirsted for knowledge. I’m sad to say he died before he could reach a goal. This three year old boy with no family carried water to the very edge of the fire; I will always see a soot circled smile coming back for another water jug.

Oh brave little boy your smile is your gift no matter what happens to your world. With each step you give generosity and  kindness. Wee little fingers, no shoes for your feet, but always you came skipping with love wrapped for me.

We wept at your passing. so few years were you given but I never can forget the youngest fire fighter to ever live.

Intent #eyes #children #poetry

You may watch what we do

I know your intent too well

who watches the innocent

wants a child to fall?

Too long the history

 foul your jaded past

you ogle a prize

an ogre at best

I’ll continue my path

butterflies and ribbons

we play and we love

our celebration is living

I am sickened that there are people in our world who use others for their gain. Children are the most vulnerable and deserve to be protected against such evil.

Thank you to those who reach out to a hurting world and care…

Kelly Smile #Uganda #loss #children

I saw your smile yesterday

broad was your Kelly smile

reminded me of memories

long as a Gulu mile

small fingers intertwined in mine

dark ash upon your cheek

fought fire with the older boys

bravest child Id ever meet

I saw your smile yesterday

broad was your Kelly smile

reminded me of memories

long as a Gulu mile

bands all sizes on the floor

we’d make them for our wrists

love you knotted one for me

in colorful sweeps and twists

I saw your smile yesterday

broad was your Kelly smile

three short years of memories

but long as a Gulu mile

in such a little caravan

your body we conveyed

grandmother held you in her arms

wept o’er her precious babe

I saw your smile yesterday

broad was your Kelly smile

reminded of our memories

long as a Gulu mile

as your teacher I then shared

the picture in my heart

a tightly woven little place

it never will depart

I saw your smile yesterday

broad was your Kelly smile

knot of precious memories

they’re long as a Gulu mile

Stepping Stones #poetry #photography #writing

Valley water in a good year

rough current o’er my path

couldn’t pick a way

no choice but sink or swim

life pulled me down

boulders blocked my life

throw them at the sun

sharp like a knife

writing scribbled frowns

not really smooth

a way in front I see

what lies behind

rushes to the sea

walk in a village

water flowing free

writing with a goal

children read & dream

I know poetry is symbolic and cryptic and so many unexplainables. Poetry has been a way for me to move forward (and write) when my path seemed fouled. Use your words no matter how few to set your mind at ease. There is a waterfall of sentences just up ahead.

Joy’s Smile #orphans #uganda #sundaydevotion

Goodness in those eyes

kindness in his smile

 little fingers wrap in mine

 never want to let go

God is the maker

children such a gift

may actions always match

the love I feel inside

I am always disturbed when I hear of children who are cast-offs. Our world has grown careless with its real treasures. We would never throw away gold, but these little ones are much more precious than any gem.

I am grateful that there are those in the world who have hearts willing to pour their love into a heart and rekindle precious smiles.

“He called a little child to him, and placed the child among them.
And he said: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.
Therefore, whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
And whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me.
“If anyone causes one of these little ones—those who believe in me—to stumble, it would be better for them to have a large millstone hung around their neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea.'”
~Matthew 18:2-6

greetings far and wide

hearts momentary grasp

a smile of shared kindness

if only this could last

 shallow are grey blue waters

when for another do not share

freedom used to ring

for gold we only care

daily the reminders

a smile so white and pure

a child trusts my hand

love is our world’s cure

That concept used to be so dear – now is a time when people are enslaved in so many ways.
