Down the aisle

her radiance came

glow upon her cheek

he shared the same

their lips caressed

the vows exchanged

tears fell with petals

joyous hands were raised

cling to one petal

it will blow away with Fall

lonely drop

Unseen Treasure #poetry #love #sea

 Rush of turbulent waves

overtake the sandy bits

I am a mere grain

hidden in the drifts

 One who sees beyond

how does He know

the deeps where I lay

His love never shifts

for treasure digging deep

it’s hard for us to grasp

open empty hands

filled with love at last

A Gift to U #uganda #christmas

The gift I send is love

you cant pack it in a box

or wrap it up and send it on a plane with a friend

1000 beads cant take its place

red, green and silver ribbon can’t outshine its beauty

it can’t be sealed in ziploc bags with a kiss

village children won’t make it in class

it can’t be hung on a tree

this kind of love was born in a manager

gave up all priviledge

scratchy hay against a baby’s skin

no kingly courts celebrated His arrival

He was despised, rejected

few heard the songs sung for Him

centuries cant outdistance the meaning

sacrifice became love

love became a free gift

it is what I send to my friends in Uganda this Christmas

and to you!

In October I started putting together a package of christmas gifts and crafts for 100 children. Love was placed in ziploc bags. A package went in luggage with a friend who went to Uganda in November. There was plenty of time for the children to receive their Christmas goodies. “The airlines regrets to tell you that your luggage was lost in transit.” I hope somewhere children are able to enjoy the crafts and gifts that were inside that lost luggage.  The best gift is the love I can send to my Pawell, Lacor and Gulu family – each of you is precious and loved beyond measure by the King.

Bouquet for Her #poetry #photography

I circled her fresh face with my fingertips

ruby red were her luscious lips

spring her blossom ever green

awaken not from this dream

summer harsh it takes the glow

dew’s gone, nothing will grow

our love languish in her eyes

 robbing heat  I ever despise

colors change,  bouquet of woe

her faded lips her time I know

nothing lasts, she is so pale

catch the fall, of her I’ve failed

tulip-heart

 brightens my day

seasons flow like water

can’t catch red petals

Today’s prompt at Poet’s United is Appreciation. I have a recent love of red tulips. Sadly tulips do not last.

Without You #mothersday #poetry

azalea

some children fall in the cracks

swept up in loving arms

(for you) mothering comes easy

loving is never a “task”

Grandmothers take small hands

steer us clear of life’s storm

water their little one’s garden

never says “can’t” always “Can”

her memory flows over sweetly

wishing she still was near

heaven is ever the richer

Grandmother your love was so dear

*

In my discussions with people, I rarely find someone whose grandmother wasn’t an influence in their lives. Some of us were raised by our grandmothers and our mothers were either out of the picture or were more concerned about their own lives. To the women who in their elderly years dusted off their tennie runners and game playing skills and most of all loved us for who we were.

Sharing this with Poet’s United today!

Young #atozchallenge

sea foam line

yesterday I stubbed my toe

nothing was making sense

my imprints vanishing

closed in by life’s fence

today I followed my footsteps

retraced some of my steps

jumped similar  waves

discovered no more regrets

tomorrow I’ll follow my heart

no matter the cost

sing to you and the sea birds

our smiles will never be lost
