Once in your prime

shiny and smart

three on a tree

was a good start

Fast off the line

curvy too

all who remember

have memories of you

step-side so classy

where did you go?

relegated to junk

please ~no

today restoration

gladly was lent

have new perspective

wears a few dents

I saw on old relic of a Chevy step- side being pulled on a trailer yesterday; she looked in dire need of attention. You have to understand the love of cars I inherited from my dad      ( my brothers and I go nuts about restoring an old classic). This time I just had to dream. I’m guessing that G-Man has seen a few of these “beauts” in his day – “read ’em and weep”

Vintage

She’s growing old

showing signs of rusting

in upholstery

I’m not trusting

lines once sleek

show signs of wear

hinges creek

muffler coughs

she gets out on Sundays

to show what’s there

she’s vintage

Her body’s  sagging

more gray

yes wrinkles

less  on the go

energy lagging

health  ebbs

and flows

appreciated less and less

she gets out on Sundays

in her best dress

she’s an antique

She walked into a shop

steeped  in another era

scents  of old

ancient things from there

Up in a loft

she saw an ivory mirror

she held it’s loveliness

tell me what did she hear?

It was a voice

with an accent sublime

young and clear

from another time

Are you talking to me?

I hear you my dear

the young voice queries

please come a little near

***

Where is the woman?

no one but me

looking around

where can she be?

***

Then just as sweetly

she gave me a message

must be for others

what is the passage?

Tell them I love them

tell them I’m here

tell them I’m waiting

give them love and cheer

***

Who do I tell?

can’t you be clearer

now she was gone
