Grace

a word broad and wide

grasp at undeserved beauty

little girl revived

A week ago a Sudanese refugee girl was in a coma – no answers. it just happened. A week later she was awake. Here name – Grace.

Grace is “unmerited: mercy, kindness, and patience” like the free gift given by Jesus.

beauty comes in many colors

she was wrapped in wisteria and silk

sand grains wouldnt dare cake her feet

she passed by like a breeze

enveloped in a rainbow

A month of letters as prompts will finish at the end of the week. There are still many bloggers to enjoy in this challenge:

Found in the Forest #poetry #photography

forest path

I stop… mesmerized

sunshine reaches down

they’re holding hands

radiance from the ground

I stand… reaching

with my eyes

I soak in warmth

kneel where nature lies

I breathe…silence

listen to holy teaching

never quite the same

for truth I’m always seeking

forest leaf

Dawn and the Sea #poetry

tidal foam

my eyes long to caress you smooth as silk

your bronze glow accentuated by dawn

my fingers can only momentary trace a message

watery “I love yous” fade away

as the sea draws lacy covers back

remnant of a long night blurrs

gold red rays warm your skin

long legged birds celebrate your awakening

I a mere voyeur watch…

the morning rises from slumber

 meeting the sea’s welcome embrace

I inhale the beauty of a new day

sandpiper dawn

This week’s prompt at Poet’s United Midweek Motif is Beauty. Where in the world do you see beauty?

The Beauty in Difference #devotion #poetry

pink wild flower poster

I was wild  a little daring

boldly wearing magenta in a sea of green

standing tall at the close of spring

the thing was no one knew my name

they knew the pansies, marigolds, lobelia

I heard one flower proclaim

“she’s a beauty for a weed

she should be removed

who knows if she will infect you”

I wasn’t refined, knew little what to do

hard to define, but I like who I am

I heard the master gardener say:

“don’t stop being who you are

a time will come I will cut  away

do not dismay you will endure

long years you will smile and sway”

It’s difficult standing among a crowd and being different. Perhaps while everyone wears blue and yellow, you like orange and pink. Your shoes are tall while everyone else wears flats. Were we made to be all the same? Apparently not. Some people are petite others are large. There could be one hundred people with dark hair and that hair would be long,  straight, short, kinky, medium, bouncy, shiny, red tint, or dull with some grey. God made us this way. We are different not so that we can point out that we are the best flower in the garden but so that we can give food or shade to a certain creature, offer a rare fragrance in mid-day, cheer up someone who is downtrodden, or shine our faces in a smile to the sun. We each carry a gift that like a bouquet is an offering of beauty to our maker and to our world.

“Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit, He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit, He prunes it so that it may bear more fruit.”

John 15:2

“ I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.”  ~Psalm 139:14

“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”

Ephesians 2:10

discarded daffodil

Despondent

Dressed in tones of sunshine

my yellow bonnet waves

amidst contrast of green fields

we chorus spring today

an errant finger plucks

I cry in silent agony

breaking Printemps connection

separated from celebration

Disappointed with my fragrance

I am flung upon a pile of debris

rubbish clogs my senses

I used to breathe beauty

(now I brave man’s stench)

rising sun

“SKY and EARTH”

Gold lining my sleeve

a small face peeks from earth below

I don’t want to alarm her

deep my thundering bellow

reach and inhale her beauty

jealous of rich soil wrapped about her

I wake each day to his radiant smile

each morning warmth tingles within

I envy the birds that fly so high

near him they almost touch

I want to lay on fluffy clouds at night

to his pocket be pinned

longing to feel his breath on my skin

only to turn my face in a smile

Never to caress the one I love

distance that separates more than miles

… is in the eye of the beholder

do they really mean what they say?

catch me on the cold nights

basking in the sun

I and the moon’s reflection

dancers we are one

you can never touch me

but you can always try

beauty is in the …
