See through glass

awakening of winter

perfect clarity

snowy morn

Cold nose

oxygen molecules filled

The prompt at Carpe Diem Haiku Kai was “Clear Sky after snow.”

Cherry Blossom Carried Away

petal walk

such a malice
cherry blossoms in full bloom
the Spring wind!

scattered at my feet

arctic cold grasps pink innocence

spring picks up pieces

children dance around her

adults gather in sad fare well

hands full of beauty

her essence floats off in the basin

tears mist away

faintest pink remains

brown and bruised by the wind

My Cherry Blossom offering to Carpe Diem as a Solo No Renga

And with Poets United as we celebrate the Cherry Blossom

a touch of cherry

Everyone feels grief
when cherry blossoms scatter.
Might they then be tears–
those drops of moisture falling
in the gentle rains of spring?
For those of you poets who have not submitted yet,  we would love your poems/haiku  to encourage the orphans of Ebola. To those who have thank you !!!
A teen from the Philipines submitted a beautiful poem today I was so humbled by her desire to help.

Wind Blown #devotion #poetry #photography

Between the panes it reaches

irrespective of my will

it howls in singular tone

ties my tongue, I feel ill

icy it tantalizing streaks

lookout for those to spill

through the woods it shrieks

and I cold and all alone

As we traverse life, there will always be those cold icy patches that reach out to trip us and at times we fall. In His grace, God picks us up and gives us refreshment maybe even some sunshine. Last year I fell on some nasty ice and had a bad break. The day I finally ventured out, I fell again spraining the remaining limbs. This winter I was afraid to go out if there was any snow or possible ice. I am learning to not be timid rather to be prepared with the right gear. Isn’t that how life is? A trial lays us flat and we want to just stay in the fetal position. We must prepare ourselves and bravely face each day.

 Psalm 23:4

“Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff they comfort me.”

James 1:2-8

“Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing. If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind. …”

 Philippians 4:6-7

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

Edge of Cold #haiku #photography #poem #storms

At Carpe Diem we were just introduced to Otagaki Rengetsu (1791-1895) A female poet who knew well the pains and suffering of the sojourner.

An excellent and appropriate prompt for the day “Cold within the sound” for Chevrefeuille’s Carpe Diem

Bleeding heart #poetry #photography #valentine

broken rose

I took a pose

and beautifully fell

caught by stiff icy arms

elegant red rose

I tried to arise

from  white blanket cold

no hot house warmth

flower, snow and stone

lift me as I groan

nothing can I feel

what once ran free

a bleeding heart alone

*

no tears remain for me

shriveled up and dead

wind blows away at will

Defying Winter #poetry #photography #nature

winter shadows

Caught in a storm

crystallized blue wings

between barren limbs

searching for warmth

“Surrender”

a cold mocking call

small shivers

the bold whisper

“No, I carry life!”

saving beauty’s songs to sing

survive

shaking off icy arrows

cold dance continues

no warm hearth

scorn of winter’s blanket

berries few and withered

prevail I must

til spring
