Shipwreck #poetry #dark #pen

shipwreck

Cast adrift

No where to go

my hands grip

this piece of flotsam

can’t remember why

*

Piece of wracked ship

splintered debris

watery abyss

sucked into darkest

no one  hears my cry

*

“welcome to the crypt”

a hollow grating sound

fingertip like cold

opens  it’s doors

none knows where I lie

pen of the damned

As a writer for the Pen of the Damned, I like to draw attention to the excellence of the writing that you will read by this dark, angst wrought group. Please check out the newest short story by Dan Dillard ,“Visions of the Reaper.” If you like dark, you will not be disappointed

I apologize to the photographer as I lost the information about the piece. If you know, please contact me so I can attribute properly.

The Alley #poetry #photography #dark

Don’t stop

nor turn around

this alley is filled

with unknown rot

***

this is no spoof

what have you read in stories

they never bother

with the truth

***

if you want a story to tell

keep your eyes focused on

that light

as your heels are licked by hell

The Bottom of the Lake #poetry

Yes there was green

life began at some point

a seed

The seasons went too quickly

that’s all

what was alive

became brown

I remember breathing

laughing

children in my arms

the breeze

alas there is

holding no more

laughing forbidden

now that I am at the bottom

of the lake

Thank you Rob Hanson for the beguiling photo. I couldn’t resist. Please enjoy the photography feature of Rob at One Stop Poetry

Darkness All Along #oneshotwednesday

Look at me a tragic flaw

assembled by nature

as a blemish

an embarrassment

surely not meant to embrace

rather shun

***

you don’t know me

you say you do

but you don’t

not really

who does?

no one!

*

Take a closer look

look into nothing

For that is what I am

my heart an abysmal void

a web darkly spun

*

I live life alone

on my own terms

sample what you like

there is nothing worth having

 better escape, quickly, run!

*

This is my curse

a world of loveless, nothingness

drawn into dark

away from the light of hope

don’t bother there is no sun

*

But then

it is what they wanted

chosen and delivered to me

an anomaly

a freak

being no one

Here’s to another week of One Shot Wednesdays.

I was looking back over my notes and emails in May and June when we were throwing ideas around about One Shot Poetry.  Its been a great year for One Stop Poetry – thanks for your support.

Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there, wondering, fearing, doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream before. - Edgar Allan Poe
