Deceived #poetry #archive

The façade has an appeal to the onlooker

It draws one in to experience more

It appears to offer shelter

Hope seems just a little further

Look closer for the truth

Your eyes have been deceived

No substance -it is empty

The facade is a shell

Nothing to offer – nothing at all

Moondustwriter celebrates 10 years of  blogging on Word Press. This is an archived poem from the first month. Poetry is cathartic and I hope anyone who needs to blow off steam finds the outlet in writing.

As this posts, I will be in Africa doing what I love – teaching the children I write for. 10 years ago this was only a dream now this is an amazing reality.

Thank you Word Press for giving artists, writers, poets a place for venting, a place to fly…

Ensnared #devotion #poetry

You can’t escape

once you’ve been ensnared

now you are replicating the weaver

your words drip with lies

you sneer at your disguise

slicing the truth into ribbon

circling your prey fixing your eyes

hoping to snatch another innocent of your ways

you care little for the heart that beats

as long as you have your say

little do you see the clay like mire

that is opening to swallow you

caught in you own deceit

you who have wandered astray

you will fall to the pit

of your own evil plans

fool, your world is dull

it leads to death

The image drawn in the Bible of the deceiver is one who schemes to trip and mislead the young, innocent and the naive. This web may glisten with a momentary beauty but it lays a trap that few escape. Follow the truth rather than lies and follow the light of day!!!

day light's burning

“He who speaks truth tells what is right, But a false witness, deceit.” ~Proverbs 12:17

“They hatch deadly snakes and weave spiders’ webs. Whoever falls into their webs will die, and there’s danger even in getting near them.” ~Isaiah 59:5
“For the one who desires life, to love and see good days, must keep his tongue from evil and his lips from speaking deceit.”
~1 Peter 3:10

“They profess to know God, but by their deeds they deny Him, being detestable and disobedient and worthless for any good deed.” ~Titus 1:16

Epitaph of Love #poetry #flashfiction

One

 last

silent tear falls

“WHY?”

whispered echoes in the trees

*

Sculpted beauty

 stone cold

veined marble

“here lies…

…cherished by many

…embraced by few …

thought of passionately  by one”

*

you held me

 too soon released

love  longed for

 world  dreamt of

gone the moment

 darkness slipped

her icy fingers

 wiped free of guilt

dagger’s voice

 entombed

This fiction evolved from a heartfelt epitaph of lost love to an epitaph of one wronged in love. I hope you enjoyed the ending…

The sculpture is an amazing commissioned piece entitled  “Asleep”  by talented Australian artist Peter Schipperheyn

I pulled this from an archive that was submitted to:  G-Man’s Friday Flash Fiction Fun Fest and the A to Z  April writing challenge for the letter “E.

Distant Echos

“Do you hear them?”

she strained

for she heard someone

calling

her name

**

“what were

they saying?”

wasn’t  clear

oh she wished

the voices were near

**

she was drawn

to a strange place

so far from her home

the echos grew closer

she all alone

**

“You fool”

she heard

” should not have come

you are too far from home

no place to run”

**

The next day they found

a girl on her own

roaming and lost

no place

to call home
