Rebirth #easter #love #sacrifice

It was a chrysalis; a pod that holds a baby butterfly. I looked up in the tree above.

“You fell didn’t you? How can I get you back?” There was no answer, no help.

I carried the chrysalis to my cave and put it in a very safe place. “What should I do with you? Should I bury you? I can’t.”

For 3 days Judah paced and mumbled in his cave. He couldn’t eat because he was sad about the small creature who had died.

Then on day 3, he heard a tiny voice. “Hello.” Is anyone there?”

“Hello” I saw the pod changing colour and I was afraid. “How can I help?” I said rather loudly.

“I must be hanging from something or I cannot come out the right way.”

I looked around in my cave. Then I grabbed the stub where the chrysalis had been attached to the tree. I let it hang down between my teeth. “Okay.”

I spent many hours as my wings little by little came out of the pod. When my eyes popped open, I saw something large and sharp. “What are those?” I tried to sound calm.

“My teeth.”

“What do you use them for?”

“Eating.”

“Like small creatures?”

“I eat many things.”

“Um, Mr Lion can you put me back where I came from.”

“The tree was too high. I can’t do it.”

I was too tired to argue. Maybe he would give me time to fly away. It was not easy, but I kept unfolding and drying my wet wings. I finally climbed on his big nose. I waved a wing at his eyes. “Hello, I’m Bethany. Can we be friends?”

“Oh yes. You are so beautiful. I would like to be friends very much.”

“Do lions eat their friends?”

“Never.”

“My God my God why have You forsaken me?” Mark 15:34

Many of us feel forsaken during these days of CoVid 19. God has not closed His eyes to our suffering. He’s right there.

Jesus died on the cross for our sins. His heart broke because our sins separated Him from the love of God  (for those 3 days.) Why would he do that? Because He loved us and wanted to free us. Judah the lion didn’t save the cocoon to then eat the butterfly. Jesus didn’t die for ours sins to then condemn us to eternal hell.

No one expected that in three days he would rise from the dead.  He is very much alive and we can be redeemed because sin has no hold on us in Christ. Just like Bethany the beautiful butterfly was reborn so can we be reborn in Jesus.

“He is not here; for He is risen, as He said.” Matthew 28:6

So rejoice-  Easter is the promise that death could not hold Jesus. It cannot hold us either.

“And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, (nor CoVid19) neither angels nor demons,[b]neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. 39 No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.” ~Romans 8:38 & 39

Be suspended in the rays of Easter’s hope. Be loved by the one who died on the cross for YOU!!!

In Christ Alone #easter #poetry

Who faithful carries burdens

who in love bore the cross

only one God’s Son

willingly paid the price

sin a heavy anchor

none can loose its chains

but by the eternal victor

 you are free from pain

why walk bent and broken

you can be set free

what a loving forfeit

Christ’s death on Calvary

*

Sins willingly bore

Risen no grave could hold

Jesus paid sin’s price

Freedom’s Dawn #Easter #Poetry

breaking through clouds look through storm clouds

beauty to behold

colors of the rainbow

mercy to unfold

hold not to the dark

open up your heart

before the Lord seek freedom

make a fresh new start

nightingale’s song

 lily raises its pure face

morning glory

Easter is a time to be reminded of Christ’s sacrifice and renewed. But we can hold back and lay roots of rot and resistance. It is not God who holds back His goodness. We are the ones who chose not the beauty of salvation’s grace.

Broken Egg #happyeaster #poetry

broken egg

All the king’s horses

All the king’s men

couldn’t put anything

together again

Here I lie broken

listless and cracked

there’s one who has risen

will take the world back

So I look to the cross

He will set all wrongs right

today He has risen

there’s love in His light

*

Doubt in the darkness

son breaks through world’s clouds

Easter dawns with HOPE

Palms Sing Rocks Cry

morning breaks

golden rise upon the mountain

light moves gently over the scene

colors join the day in knowing

this is an answer to a dream

donkey’s colt untied and led forth

his only rider is a king

palm branches line La Via

Hosanna shouts while others sing

the silent rocks they know the story

holding back the truth they know

but one day all will be revealed

and men will cry in shouts of woe

this Palm day swift leads to another

where the course of history bends

his eyes have looked into many

love’s message to each one he sends

Today is Palm Sunday the day when Jesus entered Jerusalem under the hails of Hossanas.

“Some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to Him, “Teacher, rebuke Your disciples.” But Jesus answered, “I tell you, if these become silent, the stones will cry out!” Luke 19:39 & 40

One day (in a week) he is revered, another he is sold,  and blood spills upon the Via Dolorosa…

Wishing all at Poet’s United a Happy Palm Sunday!

Words of Grace #Easter #poetry

Easter Lily

He whispered words of grace

balm against my anguished soul

massaging the world’s pointed pain

He touched with words of grace

sweet myrrh filled emptiness

healing my life-long scars

He planed with words of grace

sanding away cancerous decay

the shaving sno part of me

He walked away from grace

nails driven into eternity

sin abolished in sacrifice

 HE lives words of grace

joyous love fills the soul

barren no more

Wishing each of you a Happy Easter.

May your burdens be lifted

The Face of Passion #poetry #photography

The Road Ahead

Passion led

 man’s life to spill

His love

on Calvary’s hill

Passion fueled

an angry mob

insults and rocks

cruelly lobbed

Passion moved

the earth to shake

 sky grew dark

bonds would break

Passion cried

 in a tomb he lay

night filled hearts

but we await the day

This poem is in response to the prompt at Verse First/Poet’s United. The prompt is “Passion.” I don’t often write directly on my blog of my faith, but it is what holds me up on good days and on the very worst.

The Rose / The Way #Easter #love #poetry

You drip beauty in our lives

shielding us from death’s pain

many your soft petals despise

You drip beauty in our lives

poured out with no guise

blood gives you a name

you drip beauty in our lives

you never once looked at me in blame

~The Way~

Jesus look the cup of poison from our hands

out of love the perfect sacrifice bore our sins

a man of suffering acquinted with grief

He is the salve

The salvation

the Way

“He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness;by his wounds you have been healed.”

1 Peter 2:24

Curious that by one tree we were hurled into a life of sin and through another a savior was broken that we could be set free…

New Steps

Newness of a Baby

Have you ever studied a baby. There is something precious about new life. Everything about a baby is new. The little fingernails, the little hair that pokes from atop their scalp, the lips mimicking a rosebud. There is a newness  more fragrant than a flower.

Mothers and Fathers, families and friends wait for the spectacular “firsts” when this new person makes headway in the world. Her first words – we clap with glee. She smiles as though she has recited Einstein’s theory of relativity. He takes his first steps – we see him making the scoring touch down, as significant as taking the first steps on the moon.

There is a newness and joy in each new achievement.

Newness of a Child Of God

Have you ever thought about how the Father feels when He watches his children? He must puff up with pride when they speak their first words “I love you Father!” A symphony must play when the child of God takes his first steps  in a new direction -turning away from the old. In some ways, each day and each statement “I love you” has a newness. It is another day to walk away  from temptation and take another new step in proclaiming loyalty. We are celebrating Easter on Sunday – a day where hope of newness abounds. A day when all creation had a new start- a reason to rejoice. Easter is a marker – man’s demise was redeemed for a Kingdom of promise.

Let us reflect and take another step toward the King!
