await silence
stiff legged is fall’s fawn
cold snap
dawn is playing with the color wheel
two does and their young pass
a fawn races toward flowers
nature dances its morning ritual
mothers tilt their heads
large eyes are watchful, hopeful
mesmerized am I in silence
the choir holds its breath
peace as golden rays curve the horizon
a white tail bobs to my left
lingering on a tasty morsel
none push others away
though rib cages bulge
an ear flicks, a buck crosses the road
stately he watches those ahead
worries crease not his brow
equal is the footing
a bird titters a “good morning”
the mamas follow the path
children run in circles
each move to the morning’s cadence
I awaken to a jet piercing the sky
too soon my peace is interrupted
drivers jockey for position to be first
breaks screech as metal bends
reverie is broken
Sharing with the event 100,000 Poets for Change:
For today’s online event, our choice is not to put one of the three themes—peace, sustainability, and social justice—above the others, but to recognize that all of these three necessary areas of change interrelate in complex ways.
Slowly raised arm
four little ones with spots
perfect picture pose
The wordpress daily post’s one word prompt is “slowly.” Im always amazed at how keen a deer’s senses are.
trees breathe life
spring gives birth to nature
a constant song

mesmerized I sit
doe cares for her speckled young
my backyard
Older than the trees
each year new life
ancient wisdom
Thanks to Managua Gunn who is ghost writing for Carpe Diem today.
He speaks of the forest, the life and healing there and asks that we let the forest inspire our writing.
I am fortunate to each day be inspired by the forest in my back yard.
(I spent Saturday morning watching two young very speckled fawn skipping about the back, while the mother took a snooze.)
What does the forest inspire in your creative spirit???
won’t you come and see
loneliness? Just one leaf
from the kiri tree
Cedar umbrellas, off
to Mount Yoshimo for
the cherry blossoms
and thank you for the words of Basho timeless in meaning and inspiration…
autumn’s child
grazing a touch away
small footprints
lithe beauty takes my breath
our eyes meet
Learning to live by the indwelling life of Christ.
Looking ahead, without looking back (too often)
Thanks for following a cowgirl on her crazy life journey.
Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there, wondering, fearing, doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream before. - Edgar Allan Poe
