Unbalanced #devotion #poetry

I stand alone

tilting in the wind

needing no one

balance only sand

*

I stand alone

cold feathers is my plight

I fall like a stone

rejected in my flight

*

no longer alone

warmer with you there

you calm my inner groan

life together gladly bear

2 seagulls

No need to stand off balance and alone. The Bible encourages  companions who stand firm and keep us from being foolish.

“He who walks with wise men will be wise, But the companion of fools will suffer harm.”

~Proverbs 13:20

“A man of too many friends comes to ruin,
But there is a [friend who sticks closer than a brother.”

~Proverbs 18:24

“Two are better than one because they have a good return for their labor. For if either of them falls, the one will lift up his companion. But woe to the one who falls when there is not another to lift him up. Furthermore, if two lie down together they keep warm, but how can one be warm alone?”

~Ecclesiastes 4:9-12

Brassy Tunes #photography #poetry #jazz

musical outlines
A night listening to jazz is always great

Deep Brass notes splendor

Upon me  cast  its  musical  spell

While I reach for memory tender

Deep Brass notes splendor

While I reach for memory tender

Musical specter reflects on golden bell

Deep Brass notes splendor

While I reach for memory tender

This Triolet  ( ABaAabAB) and Photo are dedicated to a friend (gone so many years). She and I could wail on those brass instruments all night long.

The Chapters of Today #oneshotwednesday

We closed the chapter yesterday

you were a whisper away

smiling during the dedication

catching prism-like reflection

a loving and tearful display

***

I turned a page in my life today

a new script to unfold

catching friends bloom ~a glance

butterflies in a regal dance

many stories yet untold

***

There was a book they say

filled with colorful array

it represented forever

we embraced it together

we continue to  play

Yesterday we buried a dear friend who lost the battle with cancer, today I bury a dream called One Stop Poetry, tomorrow a new dream, a new chapter will unfold for each of us.

To each of you who has supported One Stop Poetry and a crazy dream thank you; to my team wishing you the best as you pursue new heights – all my love to each of you.

My dreams and life are changing but in an exciting way: I am moving back to San Francisco – my home where I will care for my aging mother and where I will heal from a respiratory disease that salt air “wonderfully” cures, I am returning to my studies an an artist with my mentor; my books for special needs children will  be moving forward to publication; my dream to see artists realize their dreams will continue and hopefully take wing.

Please join us for a farewell to One Stop Poetry

Holding Your Heart #oneshotwednesday

Can’t protect you
against the storm
in it’s rage
but I can hold your heart

*

I can’t shield you
from the flaming
suns rays
but I can hold your heart

*

Can’t keep your boat
Safe from harm
So it won’t capsize
But I can hold your heart

*

I can’t keep
The ugliness of life away
Nor protect your eyes
But I can hold your heart

*

As the storms rage
I will hold
Your Heart
next to

mine

*

Into another age

your heart

is still

next

to

mine

Join us for another week of One Stop Poetry. Each week we have awesome poetry shared in community.

Answers to the Question (One Shot Wednesday)

You ask

I answer

it’s not words

you are seeking

***

you answer

I look closely

striving for something

to grasp hold of

***

The question

freezes between us

it eludes the answer

like a game

of hide and seek

***

We coax and prod

searching not finding

not realizing it’s the search

which brings us together

If you were here

I would never stop talking

there would always be

answers leading to more questions

deep moments of

silence

I’d gaze

you’d grin

private joke

no explanation needed

I’d look for your approval

your consent

you wisely know

the right words to

say

We’d tell stories

gazing at the stars

searching their secrets

holding hopes and dreams

close in our

arms

The Ebb and Flow

Just as friendship

so is the Sea

she flows in and out

she listens to me

I hear her voice

sometimes strong others soft

like the shell

that holds the sound aloft

Speaking one day

not the next

never would I

put our friendship to rest

there’s comfort and courage

in the words we speak

I ponder so many

some I repeat

Like a child

I clamor  – hunger for more

there’s never too much

wisdom from my friend at the shore

Thanks to Noel back in Zurich for the photo

Hope/ Love you decide…

Hope / Love -you decide…

seen in the eyes of a child

heard in the first notes of dawn

felt in a lover’s first kiss

given freely by a friend

anchor holding fast in life’s storms

cannot tear up

never goes amiss

turns darkness to-day

stands watch over the frail

endures through the worst

picks up the pieces

sustains  through life

hand reaching down with a firm grip

you won’t fall

giving its all

for a friend….

Misunderstood

I look at a reflection

what do I see there?

it appears somewhat uncertain

of my feelings

are you aware?

***

What is important

is people in my life

they help so much with meaning

simply put

things are less contrived

****

I once more face dilemma

it hasn’t been the first

acquiesce on what matters

for dissension

I have no thirst

***

If only you could view me

from another way

that view through the mirror

might reveal

my thoughts this day
