Cross Roads #sundaydevotion

Life’s road  uneven

filled with pain

I’ve know the sting

of sin’s dark reign

*

the fork it beckoned

from afar

succumbed to flesh

I see the scars

*

His light it shines

in darkest place

removes the stain

no one can trace

*

I gladly trudge

this burden bear

to heaven’s cross road

my savior’s there!

“A highway will be there, a roadway, And it will be called the Highway of Holiness. The unclean will not travel on it, But it will be for him who walks that way, And fools will not wander on it.”

Isaiah 35:8

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”

Matthew 11:28

“And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Matthew 28:20

Life’s Road is filled with rocks and uneven spots. Some days we have little strength to crawl. Though this life is tough, Jesus promises that He is there to walk over the toughest terrain  (carrying us if need be).

My Cloak for A King #palmsunday #sundaydevotion

 my pink petal robe

beneath un-sandaled feet

unworthy to meet

The King!

What would it be like to have Jesus walk on my cloak, look in my eyes and smile? This Jesus came as a servant to the poor, the sick, the broken, the unaccepted. The leaders could not understand a king like this. They despised this “rule-breaker” who would not conform to the law they had defiled.

Jesus is not of this world. He rules with love and reaches his scepter of forgiveness to all. Grasp for that freedom and you will be washed clean from the mud of this world.

“He was despised and rejected be men, a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief; and as one from whom men hide their faces he was despised and we esteemed him not.”

                                                                    ~Isaiah 53:3

“The next day he saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!”

                                                                   ~John 1:29

Today is Palm Sunday. This is the day when Jesus entered Jerusalem on a donkey. He was celebrated and loved. Such a difference one week makes in the lives of us all.

Thank you to Wall paper gallery for the free image of the cross it merged perfectly with my shot of the cherry blossoms to make a lovely image.

Pursuit of Wisdom #devotion #poetry

dawn waves

Wisdom is like a living organism

it grows in rich spiritual soil.

roots strong and going deep

it speaks to the loyal

Pride and avarice kills it

humility and love cause it to thrive

But it is not for the fainthearted

as it clarifies one’s eyes

you see fools life’s marauders

cause pain to the meek

the poor are down and trodden

ground to dust so to speak

you can’t find it in a college

it’s not something you can buy

pursue high search low

it is precious this Heaven’s prize

Wisdom is compared to insight and light. It’s aim is to instruct and lighten the load of the “simple”. Folly or foolishness is “loud, knows nothing” and attempts to mislead others. (leading ultimately to destruction.)

In days like these, it is imperative that we pray for wisdom; it can clarify the noise of the world and give sense to what makes so little…

“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom and the knowledge of the Holy One is insight” Proverbs 9:10

“Does not wisdom call out? Does not understanding raise her voice? At the highest point along the way, where the paths meet, she takes her stand; beside the gate leading into the city, at the entrance, she cries aloud:
“To you, O people, I call out; I raise my voice to all mankind. You who are simple, gain prudence; you who are foolish, set your hearts on it.[aListen, for I have trustworthy things to say; I open my lips to speak what is right. My mouth speaks what is true, for my lips detest wickedness. All the words of my mouth are just; none of them is crooked or perverse. To the discerning all of them are right;
they are upright to those who have found knowledge. Choose my instruction instead of silver, knowledge rather than choice gold,
11 for wisdom is more precious than rubies, and nothing you desire can compare with her.”

Proverbs 8:1-11

Darkest Hour

rocks and cross

through the darkest hour
every tree top in the forest
adorned with a star
                 (Ese)

the earth quaked in sorrow

man had crucified God’s Son

Good Friday is a day that the earth mourns the death of bright hope.  This supreme sacrifice was intended to set the prisoners free from the shackles of sin. And so we celebrate with misty tears the dark day when Love died.

In Tune #poetry #kindness #devotion

award shooting star

There’s a star in the sky

 one you’ll never quite see

but it shines all the same

perfect voice tuned to “C”

*

you can’t hear what she sings

but the song is her own

she calls the disheartened

to draw near home

*

I met this fair one

not long ago in a dream

she called in the dark

I was lost so it seems

*

Radiance poured on a path

one that I’d never used

and I stumbled in the dirt

over unlaced running shoes

*

on my knees I looked up

and I saw a bright light

it came with a song

what a beautiful sight

*

“you will make it

I can see

not too far now

past those trees

take a left

then a right

you will find hope

past the night”

*

Then I saw it in a smile

someone waving all the while

open arms rescued me

finally safe, darkness free

“It is always darkest just before the day dawneth.” –  Thomas Fuller

Have you ever stumbled in the dark? It seems most of us do.  Have you ever been picked up out of the dirt? I have and am grateful for those gentle smiles that graciously moved me on my way.  If you have ever stumbled and been helped back up, remember to look for others who can use a simple act of kindness to help them continue on their way.

Keep on loving one another as brothers and sisters. Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it. Hebrews 13:1-2
