moderators, old timers, just starting out

sharing one common thing

the month of April

in some places Spring

writers, poets, students, experts, bloggers

laugh, compose, take pictures, sigh

community for a month

until 2023 it’s goodbye

but wait hold that thought

learned, grew, took awhile

misplaced your pen

found your smile

Each year without fail I meet some amazing people and their writing / blogging is awesome too!

This 2022 is not exception because it is A to Z.

it slowly rose

displayed yellows, orange, reds

setting for another year

Magnifying Glass #Newyear #2019 #Happynewyear

Goodbye to a year that will be the past

Adieu to our failed successes that don’t last

we wave a friendly blushing Ciao

Sayonara , gone for now

Magnify the things you’ve done

some things lost others won

rocks pulled from the soil

bread rising never to spoil

all of 2018 now behind

flash of 2019  momentarily blind

last farewell to friends

Joy in Tears #Uganda #butterfly #children #goodbye

I waved goodbye to my little Bethany who has been my friend over many years and many countries. We tell stories about Jesus together. Today she chose to leave with a friend. Her name is Stella and she is nine years old. Stella and Bethany my la fofo will love village children together.

It’s hard not to shed a tear when my friend and I have shared so much. I am proud of Bethany that she willingly flew into Stella’s satchel for the trip to the village.

Goodbye Bethany. I love you!!!!

And to our dear Acoli family we say goodbye for now. Goodbyes hurt but we are joyful to love you!!!

As You Walked Out The Door #Holidays #children #poem

door-number-2

My eyes glinted

the stars caught it

the misty tear “goodbye”

I tried so hard to hide

*

The first time you waved

that winning smile followed

my heart couldn’t believe

I’d get used to watching you leave

*

your deep voice fills the rooms

in memory’s spaces

and I fight back dreams

to shrink you back to three

*

but all that is left

an imprint of your laughter

captive of the autum’s glow

and your 7 foot shadow

*

as you walked out my door

*

leaves spinning

autumn’s dance floor is full

home is far behind

leaf dance

The prom pt at Chevrefeuille’s is Exodus. This haibun is a reflection of the final waltz of autumn as loved ones say their goodbyes.

I’m also sharing this with the Poetry Pantry where poets join to share a bit of warmth.

I Remember #fall #poetry #photography

Looking up as leaves flutter to earth
Reminding me of Moonlit kisses
The crashing of the waves as our skin touches
laughing as the same song plays in both our heads
Fantastic aromas drive our senses wild
Anticipating our tomorrows
Running to the door for one more embrace
Waving and mouthing the words “goodbye I love you”
Hearing the crackle of fall leaves under my feet
Causing me to remember

Just Say Goodbye (Guest Poet R.S. Mallari)

why do you have to lie?
why make up all those alibis
you just have to say goodbye
let me walk away and cry

you said you love me but,
fine with me, I can live with that
you asked for some space
I heeded and gone back to my place

why do you have to lie?
why make up all those alibis
you just have to say goodbye
let me walk away and cry

a week later I called to say hi
you told me you needed more time
I held back, let you be alone
knowing everything’s just fine

why do you have to lie?
why make up all those alibis
you just have to say goodbye
let me walk away and cry

a month, you haven’t return my calls
confused I am looking at the walls
I decided to surprise you and all
bringing wine and some chicken rolls

but to my surprise you weren’t alone
you were with someone new all along

why do you have to lie?
why make up all those alibis
you just have to say goodbye
let me walk away and cry

two years have passed by
you called me to say hi
telling me you’re sorry and cried
and that you were so blind

it’s all behind me now, I have a good life
now that I have somebody to hold at night

I don’t need to lie
I will not make up alibis
I’ll just say goodbye
let you walk away and cry
