all to kill O-Sho

The prompt for Carpe Diem Haiku Kai is Chess Game.

I have been intending to learn the game of Shoji so this gave me an opportunity to study some of the differences of the game.

The lower shoji photograph is me playing with a book cover for one of the authors I am working with.

The Carpe Diem prompt is to write a Tanka, the syllables count is: 5-7-5-7-7 … The inspiration comes from tanka poet Mariko Kitakubo

Leaning Tower – Robby Hayton

You lean too far

you drop

nuances

into my hands

like cherry blossoms

too heavy for the bough

you are not strong enough

at least not for now

Graceful you reach toward the sky

in an upward spiral you grow

touching the clouds upward so high

graceful you reach toward the sky

touching the clouds upward so high

one weakness you have that we know

gracefully you reach toward the sky

in an upward spiral you grow

The Leaning Tower of Pisa – a campanile, or freestanding bell tower, of the cathedral of the Italian city of Pisa, known worldwide for its unintended tilt to one side. It is situated behind the Cathedral and is the third oldest structure in Pisa’s Cathedral Square (Piazza del Duomo) after the Cathedral and the Baptistry. The tower’s tilt began during construction, caused by an inadequate foundation on ground too soft on one side to properly support the structure’s weight. The tilt increased in the decades before the structure was completed, and gradually increased until the structure was stabilized (and the tilt partially corrected) by efforts in the late 20th and early 21st centuries. took 20 years to build because of war.

Its the time of the year to breathe in the beauty of the cherry blossom. There are many activities to enjoy at the cherry blossom festival in Washington DC.

A Day in Infamy #PearlHarbor #Dec7 #WW2

A

Sunshine Day

In paradise

Suddenly

Deliberately

An Attack

On Freedom

War

Engages

***

While many were sleeping

others would be laid

to an eternal rest

at the bottom of a harbor floor

no satin lined casket

mother nor lover planted a last kiss

your bodies  more water than man

***

on this day of memories

we take a stand

for a world

where

there

will

be

no

WAR

Stop the Shaking #Japan #oneshotwednesday

Have you ever heard it?

Felt it?

Lived through

IT?

***

I’m one of the lucky ones

a roaring train shook my country

rocked it to its core

not like the gentle sway of my crib

we no longer have a shore

***

Endless days

sleepless nights

don’t close your eyes

someone else may be gone

oh the pain at first light

***

stop the shaking

please things are breaking

mama’s dishes

papa’s bones

stop the shaking

Please

our

home

is

GONE

This is my poem for One Shot Wednesday. There is no form to it, no rhyme , little reason – so like the world in the Japan of today!! Unicef is there for the relief for Japan’s children.
