In the wink of an eye

a splash in the pond

a squint at the sky

and you’ll be gone

*

streaming tail of a kite

your first goodnight kiss

college degree you might

so many things you’ll miss

*

up down your merry-go round  ride

look not ahead

as you swim against the tide

trying to ignore the end

*

mix the water-color glass

muddied against the  world

some dreams will come to pass

life’s banners won’t  fully unfurl

There are children who are born with defective organs or who contract  incurable diseases.

The merry-go round ride for them is short but no less spirited.

“Do you know how many times I have heard the words “you only have a few weeks, maybe months”????  I am tired of the fear evoked by practitioners who are not up to date on diagnosis and bed-side manner (as in looking at all the data thoroughly!)

I’ve given my dog a heart attack. I fed the cat something that killed her. I didn’t realize I  left the cage open until I ran over my bunny. My friends and family think I’m cancerphobic.

Can’t somebody get it right?”

“Slow down sweetie. I’m telling you this because my mother had the same symptoms as you. she died in four months ‘cuz she had a male doctor who wasnt thorough with the tests.”

A tear fell “If I’m going to die, I’d like to know.  I am so tired of the merry-go-round of maybes.”

“The test I’m doing will tell us.”

“Can I bring my parrot to the office until we know?”

The merry-go-round of life

Get on quick

for the ride of your life

bells and whistles

action and light

The Merry -go- round

will not wait

it will cycle through life

get on before it’s too late

***

Join the laughter

remove the cares of the day

as your horse rears and jumps

beckoning you to play

***

It may ache

when you leave

for the color my friend

has the ability to deceive

***

makes you believe

it’s something it’s not

just runs in a circle

and then – a stop

***

If you know there’s an end

it’s just a fun ride

then hop on my friend

come join us this  time
