look behind you
follow the leader
I’m leaning over
there are lollipops
I have the littlest frown
I see you!
mama’s busy with the farm
rain blocked the way
we jump life’s puddles
we cross them together
today on my back
tomorrow holding hands
The Acholi are hard working and determined people. The women will work the farm during the day, clean up , then carry their produce to market each evening. The young girls sweetly care for their siblings even those still in diapers. What determination we see in those so young. So proud of the kindness of children.
Are you doing the A to Z challenge? Are you determined to finish strong?
We are near to the halfway mark – bravo.
Simultaneity is today’s Napowrimo topic
The Definition of Simultaneity is the relation between two events assumed to be happening at the same time in a frame of reference. According to Einstein’s theory of relativity, simultaneity is not an absolute relation between events; what is simultaneous in one frame of reference will not necessarily be simultaneous in another.
so eager to meet us
always a big smile
a treat would be nice
can you stay for awhile
children so welcome
a great big hello
one word I can say
in their languages I know
In the market, in a small way station, at the petrol station we are always greeted with such kindness by the Ugandan people. The children always have a big smile for us.
Today is week two of great blogging and poetry. Say “Hello” to someone you haven’t read before!!!
chased by waves
blowing up a balloon
hide- n -seek with daddy
chasing the moon
lung for the ball
reach for the sky
wonder on her face
gleam in her eye
We may never figure out exactly what a child is thinking but isn’t it fun watching them?
It’s one week today with A to Z and Napowrimo and I am meeting (as always) some talented and kind bloggers/ poets. Enjoy a month of great writing.
Some must visit blogs:
feet joyfully tap
vocal chords follow
babies wiggle their feet
boys jump in the air
hard not to move to the beat
we’re in church
dancing
*
place in my heart
sun rises with daily greeting
smiling boy
The prompt at the wordpress photo challenge is Smile. Our friend’s boy Danny is a constant joy. We always want to bring him home with us when we leave Uganda.
Alive with color
enamoured by this small creature
smile on her face
We use the puppets named Bethany (butterfly) and Judah (Lion) to help teach our lessons. Puppets have an amazing ability to involve even shy children.
One of the first Acholi words I learned was La Fou Fou (Butter fly)
sharing with Napowrimo 2018 as well
Maybe it takes walking
through life’s fiercest heated fires
to arrive at green meadows
feel each blade of grass grow
*
Maybe it takes
enduring life’s harshest foamy storms
to revel in radiant sunshine
as it sparkles in your eyes
*
Maybe it takes
an upending, battering shipwreck
to relish salt’s splash
playing upon cheek and eyelash
***
no matter the fires
the storms or the wrecks
in your loving arms
is where I’ve found warm peaceful rest

Wow tomorrow is the last of a month long blogging challenge hosted by the fantastic Ato Z Challenge Team. Thanks to Lee and all his crew as they have encouraged more than 1400 bloggers to do what they do best – write!
This year for A to Z challenge, I am using the Nautilus as my inspiration all month. The shell has many chambers (at least enough to fit all the letters.) You will find poetry, You will find some dark stuff (as I am attempting to branch into the horror genre), You will also see a smattering of short stories or prose (some with children in mind) others as lessons that we can all learn from. I look forward to meeting you and getting to know some talented writers over this month long writing journey. Please check over at the A to Z challenge and see what they are up to; they are a fine bunch of folks.

Through the window she peers
this goddess with a plan
this beauty is a fool
safety leave for another man
*
Inflicted with a love
she knows not where it’s from
she cries into the winds
Xanthus to you I come
*
Upon a ship she goes
into the foamy sea
waving to one and all
leaving children and family
*
Upon the waves she’s tossed
her heart has lost it’s way
true to me dear Xanthus?
your love do not delay
*
He sees her in a dream
reaches but sadly missed
his heart is in a knot
to Alcinoe he breathes a kiss
*
His kiss she never feels
Athena has paid her due
the lovers in the mist
will never know what’s true
*
Cast in the salty sea
her senses come to life
the ones she loved at home
thoughtlessly left behind
Alcinoe in greek mythology: was the daughter of Polybus of Corinth and wife of Amphilochus, son of Dryas. She refused to pay the full wages to Nicandra, a weaver she had hired, and the woman prayed to Athena to avenge her. The goddess afflicted Alcinoe with a passion for Xanthus of Samos and she left her husband and children and ran away with him. Coming to her senses in the middle of the voyage, she wept bitter tears and threw herself into the sea.[1]

Take a breath – please
so caught
reeled in
forgetting
to breathe
***
Look Away -Please
mesmerized
by something that isn’t real
magnetized
by the pull
***
Look around – Please
see
there is a world
of reality
something to hold on to
***
Draw Back -Please
before you become
sucked
into a vortex of passion
illusion
***
Where
passion appears
to be
everything…
Thanks Liebe Dich for the photo of The Storm

Learning to live by the indwelling life of Christ.
Looking ahead, without looking back (too often)
Thanks for following a cowgirl on her crazy life journey.
