places that we seek
expand our minds and universe
trip over happy
The daily post photo prompt is Happy Place. Where do you go to find yourself? I go to the ocean!

The Carpe Diem Haiku Kai prompt is Alone. You are never quite alone at the ocean…
I breathe in fresh dawn of a new day
I look back upon the crisp winter morn
before my shovel through the snow it breaks
I can see where nature between winter’s thaw is torn
but I’ll choose the welcome Pacific spray
I wanted to share a Fresh opportunity to share your poetry for a project (that I am part of) that will benefit orphans of Ebola. If you write poetry have a look.
“FRESH” is This week’s WordPress Photo Challenge
Turbulent we ride it out
on high churned up seas
tie down the sails
in slickers freeze
the day had been
balmy and blue
grey skies forever
waves choppy too
you take the good
I’ll take the bad
the stormy days
are close at hand
as you let loose your sails
remember this day
we long for the ocean
with which to play
Poet’s United Midweek Motif is: Stormy Weather
vast receptacle
silent your blue storms
to catch my tears
The prompt for Chevrefeuilles Carpe Diem Shuukan Tears.
where did you leave your treasure
I asked of stormy sky
the tide is quick receding
it will retreat and hide
where did you hide the treasure
beneath a shell or brook
I cannot deep go wading
or wet will be my book
where did you leave my treasure
I look into moon’s eye
a blushing smile revealing
and wearing a disguise
where did you leave your treasure
I hasten now to look
before the sea comes surging
I’ll drown while being o’ertook
Where did you leave your treasure???
I was asked to do this alone
swim the ocean
while they all watched me
carrying a stone
*
lap by lap each travail
those I thought I loved
held their breath
waiting for me to fail
*
society wills the fall
no program teaches me to swim
empty promises thrown my way
til many are nothing at all
*
I was asked to do this alone
swim the ocean
while they all watched
me
carrying a stone
Poetry allows a writer to say things he/she would be criticized for saying. Suffice it to say I easily as a divorced, unemployed, uninsured, mother (did I mention homeless) could have drown in the “system.” Fortunately, I had a role model who, rather than depend on a system that makes one weak, struck out into the ocean alone.
My hand, filled with compassion, goes out to those who have had to swim in the sea of adversity with nothing but their determination to make it.
The WordPress Daily Post Challenge offered a great prompt for today “Sink or Swim”
Cheers to the others who are staying afloat:
touched by the wind
storm waves part our path in two
left to walk alone
Kristjaan at Carpe Diem has done a lovely job of sharing a picture of kigo Nowaki and in the process has taken a walk in the storm with Basho. Enjoy Nowaki inspirations here

In the artist’s world
simple beauty will distract
mistry swirl of oil color
prismed light that refracts
a simple world
no obtrusive big screen
music through the breeze classic
filters through sunny dreams
you do need a compass
you’d be utterly lost
on the sea of the canvas
flurried and tossed
I lived there
between celedon and blue
my fingerprints now hidden
tho my portaits aren’t few
the artist breathes
a differnt type air
there’s a mixture of sorts
no worries no dispair
from the linseed of life
a philosophy spins
gather hope from the brush
the artist slyly grins
but tucks it away
as she packs up the night
for to share this pure world
would give few souls delight
Even the rust is artistic in the artist’s domain.

Learning to live by the indwelling life of Christ.
Looking ahead, without looking back (too often)
Thanks for following a cowgirl on her crazy life journey.
Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there, wondering, fearing, doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream before. - Edgar Allan Poe
