a fascinating body
floats absent-mindedly
awaits her lover
awakened by the moon’s touch
passion’s play

How many loved you
the way I did
shadowy our days
wings of abandon
beneath the crashing waves
*
how many loved you
listening for your step
on lips we sipped and grazed
moon light in your eyes
melting in your gaze
*
how many loved you
picked away the thorns
begged you back
petals plucked away
you left the soil to crack
*
how many loved you
willing your return
have to staunch the burn
no beauty in your leaving
but pain we have to learn
Calling in the heat of passion
as the moon and stars collide
saying it over and over
it wasn’t my name he cried
≈
intent on our l’amour
a height that I can render
baby, baby, baby
the only name he could remember
≈
thrusting forth in slumber
he writhes and then he screams
I waken to the noise
he needs me not it seems
≈
alone – covers and I
“was there ever love?” I wondered
too many tears to cry
our vows were tossed asunder

Passion led
man’s life to spill
His love
on Calvary’s hill
Passion fueled
an angry mob
insults and rocks
cruelly lobbed
Passion moved
the earth to shake
sky grew dark
bonds would break
Passion cried
in a tomb he lay
night filled hearts
but we await the day
This poem is in response to the prompt at Verse First/Poet’s United. The prompt is “Passion.” I don’t often write directly on my blog of my faith, but it is what holds me up on good days and on the very worst.

“Your vision will become clear only when you look into your heart.
Who looks outside, dreams. Who looks inside, awakens.”– Carl Jung
Peer in that crack
slightly ajar
opened for you
the door to my heart
***
what would you see
peering deep inside?
layered insecurity
years I’ve tried to hide
***
venture ever further
finds an inner glow
beckoning your kindness
please don’t ever go
***
If you truly entered
the chambers of my heart
I would give love freely
passion painted art

She is in his dreams dancing lightly across his sighs
closer than a whisper warming his heart
waking his need to dance with love
they dance to the soft sounds of night
spinning with the stars above and the lights in her eyes
***
Desire awakening with each kiss
perfection in each fluid move
finding endless hope in cosmic display
lover’s plight to only meet at night
days spent dreaming of the lover missed
***
Their rival daylight
in darkness ecstasy takes flight
tantalizing essence mesmerizes and captivates
lovers intertwined in a feast of senses
exploring the infinite horizons of joy so right
***
They revel in a world never fraught with pain
seize one last lingering kiss before dawn
walking in a daze until they dream another night away
eyes close reminding him of
stormy currents turbulent plains

…and a Tanka Attempt for One Stop Poetry Form
(For Each of you dear folks I have met through blogging and One Stop Poetry – A Tanka Valentine)
I look at your names
A smile then comes to my face
memories and more
You have each made my life full
so in my heart theres a place
to each of you love and More
Thank you for letting my friend Sean Vessey and myself share another of our poetry duets with you. Each line is a response to the other ~ the duet (above) is sung from the heart to honor each of you dear people who bring such joy to our lives – Happy Valentine’s Day.
Awakened in the morning
serenaded by my favorite sound
“I love you so my darling
you are my heart’s desire”
***
Rambling through my day
softly humming my lover’s song
clinging to the phrase
“I am his heart’s desire”
***
A moment that I take
I dream of us awake
passion there is still
“you are my heart’s desire”
***
Prepared to meet his gaze
fragrance fills the air
reminders of my love
hanging here and there
***
Eyes caught in candlelight
there’s longing in my song
“You are my heart’s desire”
you are where I belong…

Hold your hand out – do you feel it?
Tentative drops
The first sign of the storm
Look up as they begin to cascade
falling freely faster
black clouds swirl in the stratosphere
sounds terrify and thrill
pounding grows nearer shaking the air
light slashes through the sky marking its spot
tumult of water unstoppable
elements compete against each other to create a cacophony of sound
Will darkness ever be dispelled?
A silent interlude
Clouds hear their cue move along their path
yellow rays glow
flowers lift their faces once more
looking down you see a puddle
reflecting the end
all that’s left of me…

Look with me through that portal there
A world where the sun never sets
Light scintillates playfully on crystal clear waters
New life springs forth ~ a prism of beauty and vigor
***
Look with me at the wonders of life
hands laced offering comfort and strength
sweet melodic words caught in the breeze
unceasing devotion spoken with sparkling eyes
***
Look with me at a vibrant love
slipping between the fabric of unquenched desire
passion is caught never let go
a magnificent beat echos in two hearts
***
Come with me to that place
where the sun never sets on our love
catch me and never let me go
know love in eyes that say “forever yours”
this is where I want to be
I will extend two invitations today. One to our growing poetry site at One Stop Poetry. We welcome poets to share their work and get feedback.
The second to read the prologue of my novel The Quest for Titan co-authored with Sean Vessey. I have collaborated in the past – when it works the words flow. Sean is a fantastic person to share ideas with ~ this novel is writing itself ( practically).
Thanks to each of you for your support, encouragement and inspiration – you keep me going each day as a writer.

Going back in time…
I close my eyes
dreaming that you
are mine
***
For a moment in time…
I place my fingertips
softly on your
lips
***
For this time…
I whisper your name
in the pouring
rain
***
When time stood still…
we became
part of each other
as one
***
For all time…
you are mine
and I am
yours…
Learning to live by the indwelling life of Christ.
Looking ahead, without looking back (too often)
