Shy and Sweet #haiku #alzheimers

 shy once more

sweet are the years’  memories

what’s his name?

one red one black

yesterday’s thoughts blow by

whose shoes are those?

Sharing this set with Ronovan Writes the theme this week being Shy and Sweet.

Alzheimers is a tough disease that robs the present. Walk on yesterday’s path with these folks and try to find the daisies still left to enjoy.

The human heart has hidden treasures, In secret kept, in silence sealed; The thoughts, the hopes, the dreams, the pleasures, Whose charms were broken if revealed.

~Charlotte Bronte

sand heart in ocean

lose myself as I walk the tides

a portrait drawn in my mind

shoes set side by side with a heart

“will he inscribe a sentiment?”

neither share the other’s thoughts

 silence the roar has wrought

I brought nothing but myself

the man looks past ocean deep

clenching something in his hand

his sandals stand silent guard

deep the call of shifting sand

resolute, turns and walks away

“what have you forgotten this day?”

ocean plays another heart

misty cay and a pair of shoes

I couldn’t draw him

sea and I watched silently

Today’s prompt at Poet’s United Midweek Motif is poets united. Where do you hide your secrets?

Memory’s Sandy Remnants #poetry #photography #travel

In my shoes lays a trace

little flecks of sand

carrying vibrant still

stories and songs

I miss my summer friends

In my pocket my fingers lace

reminders of a far off land

memory the fibers fill

days that lingered long

I miss my summer friends

In my heart a place

little flecks of sand

the hour glass is still

places where I’ve gone

alas the journey ends

shoes

Wishing each of you sandy memories…

The Other Side of the Door #poetry #faith #photography

Door to Heaven by Clare
Door to Heaven by Clare

Where have I come from

where will I go

the door it has opened

to where I don’t know

*

 it crept in as light

just under a bit

then it grew bigger

my entire room was lit

*

it beckoned for me

“come this way” it said

oh what was I thinking

when I got out of bed?

*

which foot do I start with

which shoes do I wear

 a bit tentative

before me  its dare

*

I have dreamt of this day

for years in a glass

and now that it’s here

I fear what will pass

*

none for those thoughts

there’s much more to find

take one walking stick

give no thought behind

walking stick

What awaits us as we walk out the door of this life into a new reality? I believe that death is like a door that we walk through and there is a new world called heaven with plenty of green rolling hills to traverse.

“Behold, I have set before you an open door, which no one is able to shut. I know that you have but little power, and yet you have kept my word and have not denied my name”.

No Place For Clowns #flashfiction #Newcago #clowns

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

“You need to get out-of-town, Jelly. This latest turn is going to make NewCago unsafe for even clowns.”

Jelly Bean and I had grown up together. He followed me into the dark corners of the city. He did most of my night-time surveillance.

“But what about you, Sam?”

“Lily is keeping me safe for now. ”

***

“I thought you had left.” With little dignity, I sobbed.

“You found something didn’t you, Jell?” I could tell by the unnatural angle of his legs.

And here was yet another code to decipher…

I’ll start with the listening devices in his clown shoes.

Another week of  Friday Fictioneers is in full tilt. Our hostess is the inspirational Rochelle and our photo prompt credit goes to  John Nelson.

This is another 100 word offering being added to a  growing series of stories set in the dark metropolitan city of NewCago. There are many loose (shoe) strings and  unanswered questions about this metropolitan society that is sinking into the mire. Sam seems to be the only one to keep the bad doings at bay but how much longer???

The First Corner of Life #microfiction #lifeslessons #children

We need other’s to help us make it around the corner’s of life…

faithful old shoes

“I’m weary already”

the new shoe said to the old

“It is what happens at first

after awhile you will hardly notice it”

“I am concerned that my bright emblem will get scuffed”

“Oh don’t worry it will get more than scuffed”

“How do you manage?”

“I put one foot in front of the other”

the worn shoe remarked wisely

“I will never make it around the first corner of life”

“no you are right. no one can without help

the foot inside you will be your best friend

it will rely on you but so must you be confident in it.

Getting around the first corner of life is the hardest but the next comes too quickly.

Then a day will come that you get to be propped up at the end of a long day with a newspaper and a nice warm fire – ahhh retirement.”
