Dawn and the Sea #poetry

tidal foam

my eyes long to caress you smooth as silk

your bronze glow accentuated by dawn

my fingers can only momentary trace a message

watery “I love yous” fade away

as the sea draws lacy covers back

remnant of a long night blurrs

gold red rays warm your skin

long legged birds celebrate your awakening

I a mere voyeur watch…

the morning rises from slumber

 meeting the sea’s welcome embrace

I inhale the beauty of a new day

sandpiper dawn

This week’s prompt at Poet’s United Midweek Motif is Beauty. Where in the world do you see beauty?

Winter, Spring, Summer or Fall… #poetry

snow dust

Sun stands still

blazing rays drink deeply

I keep walking

***

good to know you’ve got a friend

no matter what the time the season

bone chilled or sun filled days

someone on whom you can depend

*

warm and welcome winter’s lantern

a shelter from sheer dark and cold

a hand to lead  through the snow fields

at days end the embers burn

*

so sweet and sunny are my dear friends

open door to veranda’s green

summer always springs eternal

love’s smile faithful fragrance send

yellow rose

No matter the season we all need friends. The folks at Poet’s United are friends for all seasons. The prompt today is summer or winter/ Solstice

The Sun and the Moon #poetry #photography #equinox

I love you because your rays fill with delight

what I radiate in the eve is a golden smile glow

the stars twinkle and blush nightly because they know

I respect you becasue you rise high in the sky

my shape in the night a reflection you see

is more of yourself and so much less of me

Sometimes as I rise I ask the question “why”

I’m merely a  mirror  of your glorious rays

I cast  a few shadows you lighten each and every day

We look at each other across celestial sea

we put in the sky for the world at the start

I a dusty old orb and yours a radiant heart

sun on chapel pond

Cherry Blossom Hope #spring #photography #haiku

Our host Kristjaan at Carpe Diem Haiku Kai enjoys to challenge us as we write haiku – “It’s my pleasure to present a new episode of our Haiku Writing Techniques. This time it’s all about “comparison”. Here is what I found about “comparison” in Jane Reichhold’s “Bare Bones, school of haiku”:

In the words of Betty Drevniok: “In haiku the SOMETHING and the SOMETHING ELSE are set down together in clearly stated images. Together they complete and fulfill each other as ONE PARTICULAR EVENT.” She rather leaves the reader to understand that the idea of comparison is showing how two different things are similar or share similar aspects.”

What We Can’t See #devotion #photography #poetry

winter castle

There is beyond the winter

beauty beneath the snow

like a shivering bulb

we know there is spring

we cannot see its bud

nor force its opening

 the sun alone

can entice the bloom

there is a beauty beyond winter

we will shed this life’s pain

 perfect magnificence

 is held in secret

an eternal spring

will one day

open its gates to the sun

beckoning us home

rose budding

“But it is written ‘What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love Him…'”

1 Corinthians 2:9

We can neither see nor imagine the beauty of the place that God has fashioned for us. But we can on the weariest of days take comfort in the knowledge that such a place lies in wait just as the bulb that waits to open its face come spring. As you anticipate the warmth and beauty of spring, soak in the hope of Heaven!

Yesterday’s New #dpchallenge #photography #poetry

… it flowed away from yesterday

journey’s path was set anew

what came between us

can’t be read in tomorrow’s news

let us leap toward a new day

one I see rising on the horizon

no need for a replay

let’s race to meet the sun

A new year is time for many things. Yes we can reflect on yesterday but there are new horizons to aim toward.

Chasing the Clouds #photography #poetry

fallfarms-clouds.jpg

just out of reach

out of breath for trying

you give me quite a race

to the end of the day

*

just out of reach

behind the sun is shining

the outline finger traced

you beckon me to play

*

just out of reach

my will is bent on flying

to meet you in a place

warmed always by your rays

Yesterday, I chased the clouds. The beautifully outlined clouds held back the sun’s full light.

There are some things you can never capture on camera. A glimpse of heaven I believe is one of them.

What do you chase in your excursions of life?

I am sharing this with Poetry Pantry where this always good poetry to catch.
