It’s just for a day… #poem #photography #valentine

the heart
were it  for a day
should I gently
place
such a precious thing
recipient of my dreams
in your hands?
*
were it for a day
would I with but single thought
lay
an offering
treat you like a king
at attention would I stand?
*
were it for a day
present for you
a feast
decant my finest wine
give all that is mine
pretend that you are grand?
*
were it for one day
with this
rusty key
I’d offer you  my love
poured out from my heart
devotion to one man
The Key took its own direction and as I was meandering toward romantic it was turning another way but I guess in the end we came to an agreement – of sorts.
A most Happy Valentine’s Day. My valentine is far from the moon; the key will have to keep me company.
The Midweek Motif (at Poet’s United)  not surprisingly is Heart.
Who would hold the key to yours????

Thank you for visiting Moondustwriter. One of the many exciting things I've had the honor of doing is writing and publishing in multiple genres (including education) in E. African for E. Africa. As a writer, it is a thrill to write for children (on all continents) who want to learn. I've been part of the blogging community for more than 13 years. Some old timers may remember the award winning (2011 Twitter Shorty ) blog community - One Stop Poetry. I was the co-producer of that fast growing blog community. I am a published writer, poet, artist and photographer. I have written, as well as edited, for periodicals, radio, blogs and fellow writers. There are many facets to this moon - my joy is in meeting you!

  1. Risky, risque, key … especially for one day. But within your poem it seems her risk was met with respect and equal joy. Whew! Thank God! And she holds the key too.

  2. That artful, ‘two heart’ visual metaphor… ‘the hearts’… in that inner form of this key.

    filling needs
    the key unlocks both hearts
    this union
