Ode To a Writer #oneshotwednesday

Ode to the Writer

You’ve seen me in print
Reading parts of my type
Thinking my words
reflect what I am like
*
points misread
lies between the lines
mere complications
Space and time
***
you’ve read into words
sometimes that will be
When you misunderstand
What you think you see
***
please realize
I’m not who you believe
You never really saw
The unknown person – me

*

*

I wrote this weeks ago for a site that was doing a feature of me on a VLOG. It was fun as the writer in the poem was just a person. Today I spoke with a co-author/ dear friend. We  had big dreams and lived some. She helped start and I wrote for a small international radio station ( still operating). We wrote several books (  paid for  printing); they have been distributed  all over the world. You may know who I am today – but who I will become and where I was before there ever was Moondustwriter – well hmmm we shall see.

We are into week 54 of One Shot Wednesday having just celebrated a year of being.

Please join us and take some time to read fantastic poetry.

Pain – Fear – Cancer #oneshotwednesday #poetry #cancer

How do you douse 20 years of pain

that falls like sheets of  pouring rain?

with a needle, a pill

or  a strong stubborn will?

***

How do you face unfaceable fear?

the adversary today certainly not clear

A shotgun, a dagger

an act, a feigned swagger?

**

How do you battle multiple growths of  Cancer?

For so many I wish I held the answer

strong arms  a bucket for the tears

truck load of warm loving prayers

****

To you who suffer there is no plan but there is in fact a place to turn.

I’ve heard there were no atheists in the foxhole.

I assure you there are few who don’t seek the strong arms of a God in a Cancer ward.

As I write this, I am packing to go to a cancer hospital to find out where my cancer is at.

( I do believe in miracles;  I have experienced way too many to not believe in victory.)

When I face fear I get rather cold and distant – if any of you have felt this from me please don’t take it personally.

I guess this would constitute as a gray poem not dark

Happy One Shot to all and thanks to each for their contribution.

Love: Just an Illusion? #oneshotwednesday

Words she wrote reached into his heart

He heard them somehow

Unspoken words her  art

Or…  just an illusion?

***

She thinks he must be a dream

How will she know?

“what does it mean?”

Is he …  just an illusion?

***

silent pleas go into the night

He feels her words

This seems so right

It might be …  just an illusion

***

Love flows rapidly like spring’s stream

washing over them

it trickles so clean

Defying the illusion

***

whispers into the misty night air

He catches her look

hearts locked in a stare

Their love is no illusion…

Our Beach #oneshotwednesday

Early dawn awakens

calling us to her

waves recede their motion

revealing white treasure

*

unveiled  each saucy look

Wide eyed as a child

taking in the picture

things so tame yet wild

*

birds stilt-like skinny legs

scurry dodge the flow

She knows us and smiles

little ones on the go

**

lovers in their own world

place where it all starts

hoping never for an end

passion gives a spark

**

wondrous moments in the fog

fingers always clasped

bare foot momentary prints

they  never seem to last

**

Seashells never found before

driftwood sadly bare

relics of those broken hearts

dreams , never shared

***

we take a walk along our beach

and reach toward the sand

quickly reaches back at us

her foam covered hand

***

I grew up and lived at or close to the beach. The world there is free, clean and wild. It always beckons some of us back for more.

Darkness All Along #oneshotwednesday

Look at me a tragic flaw

assembled by nature

as a blemish

an embarrassment

surely not meant to embrace

rather shun

***

you don’t know me

you say you do

but you don’t

not really

who does?

no one!

*

Take a closer look

look into nothing

For that is what I am

my heart an abysmal void

a web darkly spun

*

I live life alone

on my own terms

sample what you like

there is nothing worth having

 better escape, quickly, run!

*

This is my curse

a world of loveless, nothingness

drawn into dark

away from the light of hope

don’t bother there is no sun

*

But then

it is what they wanted

chosen and delivered to me

an anomaly

a freak

being no one

***

In Bondage #poetry #oneshotwednesday

I cannot use

words to express

no rhyme no reason

so sad

I confess

**

For I have sworn

duly so

to not reveal my heart

but this you

know

***

Were I able

I’d sing a song

dance in the moonlight

all night

long

***

In our eyes

there’d be no trace

in sorrow

or sadness

there is no place

***

Gladness and laughter

would fill each line

spilling in verse

no sense

of time

*

But I am speechless

yes it is so

for I am bound

from romance

sad –  I know

Michelangelo is my favorite sculptor. This piece (one of the captive series)  has so much feeling.

Join us for another week at One Shot Wednesday.

Jupiter’s Pain by Guest Poet Kerry Ann Mansford #oneshotwednesday

Jupiter’s Pain

She must have been

uncreased once,

embraced inside

those glistening rings,

63 moons in place.

She must have been

a young Pain,

 once,

skipping down

a flower lit path,

spotless kneed,

soft palmed,

her unchartered globes

rambling rose kissed,

before gravel

plumed

and fell,

magma bound,

magnetic will,

cored

I cannot see my face

behind her mask.

She must have been

unbruised,

once,

the unpunched stomach,

delicate, as a new

porcelain bowl,

tiny fisted,

tracing veins

in

blossoming craters,

and

wondering

if a fairy’s

breezed song,

lured the

bees’ hearts,

before the spiders

webbed fissures,

across Europa’s

face

I cannot see a woman

when the god of war speaks.

She must have been

near silence,

once,

the unsharded word,

spell bound to the

soughing of new

leaves,

held by Io’s

Love,

that knew no

Hate,

until Prometheus’

rage,

scratched volcanic

thoughts,

inside a sulphur frost

I cannot see Pain

or trace my orbit in her path.

I must have been pierced,

once,

the punctured veil.

Now,

when pain hangs her

jewels,

I will not grasp,

I will walk

prism edges,

refracting,

polished claws clasp,

and her

dreams,

acidic,

will burn clouds

she must have held me,

once,

soft skulled,

an iridescent hope…

Holding Your Heart #oneshotwednesday

Can’t protect you
against the storm
in it’s rage
but I can hold your heart

*

I can’t shield you
from the flaming
suns rays
but I can hold your heart

*

Can’t keep your boat
Safe from harm
So it won’t capsize
But I can hold your heart

*

I can’t keep
The ugliness of life away
Nor protect your eyes
But I can hold your heart

*

As the storms rage
I will hold
Your Heart
next to

mine

*

Into another age

your heart

is still

next

to

mine

I will never understand… #oneshotwednesday #autism awareness

I will never understand

why people look and deride

a person

who is just like you and I

inside

I will never understand

can’t you see

that individual

has feelings like you

like me

I will never understand

as the winds blow

why such intelligence

and thought

are looked at so low

I will never understand

beauty from above

rarely given

second thought

as a gift of love

This month is autism awareness month. A time to support those who carry an additional burden through life. If anything has been my life’s cause, it is to help others appreciate these children who have so much love to offer the world. My friend Alexi has bravely written an account about her younger brother – a survivor – a gem!!!

This is also One Stop Wednesday!!!

enjoy the wonderful poetry submitted by the community of poets in our midst.

Trapped in the Mirror #oneshotwednesday

Hidden from view
My heart from you
Not round the next corner
No where to be found

Pick up the pieces
If that’s what pleases
You will never find me
In this shattered mosaic

I was lost long ago
How I don’t know
Faded in the mirror
No one looked then

You caught a piece of my eye
As you were sadly walking by
How you saw it
Remains a mystery

“Come out from there
You look sad, ensnared
Let me look at you
Make you smile”

He talked and made me look
read to me a book
Vowed to never leave
We were all we had

Then one day
It’s hard to say
What happened
to  the walls of my jail

I was set free
He fell to his knee
Entreating me
To live my life with him

I will gladly roam
With him my home
I am captive no more
the dungeon in the mirror

Please join us as we enjoy another week of fabulous poetry at One Stop Poetry. All are welcome to share their words of inspiration. Claudia Schoenfeld will be our host.
