Two Sides #poetry #heat #2faces

I was Janus once

a shiny side

a muted side

put all happiness aside

It wasn’t me

it certainly wasn’t you

for one day I was famous

then a hot wind blew it away

I spun the coin

heads or tales

to be or not to be

there’s no answer to the question

but there are always two sides

The prompt for Reena’s Xploration 231 is to reflect on the Poem “How to Be Alone by Padraig O Tuama

Reflect on How to Be Alone

Lost #poetry #faith #photography

I stumbled over the covered path

my footfalls lacking ease

my eyes were tumbling waterfalls

I lacked a sense of peace

where am I going?

Where have I been?

no one in the ether

I’m truely lost again

Once I knew so clearly

now in a matchless fog

desperate for direction

I fear there is no God

I looked up from my sorrow

a distant focal light

I gazed not at my footing

aiming for clear sight

I barefoot in green pastures

 lightened of my load

Jesus bought my sorrows

treasures beyond untold

turn your eyes upon Jesus

look full in His wonderful face

the trials that hold you back

filled instead with love and grace

The Song Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus by Helen Lemmel

Chorus: Turn Your eyes upon Jesus

look full in hIs wonderful face

and the things of earth will grow strangely dim

in the light of His glory and Grace.

La Luna #poetry #photography #alone #symbolism

clothed in shimmering white
She dances and sways
to a starry ritornelle
a gaze over her shoulder
catches her reflection
beams at  radiant beauty
delight as she changes with the tide

enshrouded in the cover of darkness
surrounded by empty silence
cold shivers fill the night
No audience to marvel “how lovely”
sheet music ruffles on vacant stands
alone in the loneliest of places

*****

Moondustwriter celebrates 10 years of  blogging on Word Press. This is an archived poem from the first month (with some minor changes). Poetry is cathartic and I hope anyone who needs to blow off steam finds the outlet in writing.

As this posts, I will be in Africa doing what I love – teaching the children I write for. 10 years ago this was only a dream now this is an amazing reality.

Thank you Word Press for giving artists, writers, poets a place for venting, a place to fly…

To those of you who have encouraged me to not give up (you know who you are) I’m sending a bouquet of Thank Yous!!!

Unbalanced #devotion #poetry

I stand alone

tilting in the wind

needing no one

balance only sand

*

I stand alone

cold feathers is my plight

I fall like a stone

rejected in my flight

*

no longer alone

warmer with you there

you calm my inner groan

life together gladly bear

2 seagulls

No need to stand off balance and alone. The Bible encourages  companions who stand firm and keep us from being foolish.

“He who walks with wise men will be wise, But the companion of fools will suffer harm.”

~Proverbs 13:20

“A man of too many friends comes to ruin,
But there is a [friend who sticks closer than a brother.”

~Proverbs 18:24

“Two are better than one because they have a good return for their labor. For if either of them falls, the one will lift up his companion. But woe to the one who falls when there is not another to lift him up. Furthermore, if two lie down together they keep warm, but how can one be warm alone?”

Fawn #haiku

fawn

I came home this evening gasping in awe

so fresh are the white speckles on the fawn

She looks so calm with those big eyes

Her neck twists as she watches her resting twin

bending her legs she lays on the forest floor

Mothers never leave them when they are this young

the tears caress my eyelids

tomorrow they awaken to tomorrow’s challenge

tonite they rest under nature’s canopy
